Thread: 1.5-Adding buildings?

    Default 1.5-Adding buildings?

    I've tried add a new building in 1.5, but alas no luck. I think that 1.5 is limited or the base packs folder is only read for the buildings. Secondary folders for buildings will not be read. Is it possible?

    Please tell us what exactly you tried and had no luck with.
    It is possible but there are some problems with it for some people (including me ;))

    If the new building you are trying to add can be built by factions of the carthaginian culture group then see here

    It's not a map.

    Wink Re: 1.5-Adding buildings?

    I like the idea of having the auxilia phases that RTR implemented in their mod for the 1.2 version of the game. I decided to see what works in 1.5 since everyone is porting. I tried to add the (barracks_roman) building along with the levels for just the roman factions using {roman} not the individual faction names. I replaced the first three levels of barracks with the phases, and kept the last two for a total of 5 levels. I fixed the other two files (enums and the txt folder one) and then changed the strat file for the roman factions' barracks. I loaded up the game, and at the splash screen it CTD without showing an error. I don't remember clearly if this means it is a graphical error?

    So I tried another thing just arbitrary, not thinking of anything in particular.
    I removed the (_roman) from (barracks_roman) and replaced the phases with the original barracks three barracks. Fixed the other two files and the strat. The game loads up and the map.rwm is generated. I want to know if this is strange? In the strat file, I gave level one barracks to the roman factions. Chossing the julii, I saw the muster field icon on the already constructed list, but it was labeled GREEK. In the construction queue, I can build both level one (roman) and level two (because the requirements are met). Because the default picture is that of the greek culture???

    I will try this again but with the individual faction names.

    Also, I was thinking of unpacking (packs), adding the necessary files to the base building folder of the packs, then repack it. I think MonkWarrior mentioned this before in the EDB threads.

    I hope this helps!

    Ok! I got the buildings to load up in the game. I did one for RTR (The Phases) and one for EB (Nomad Camp). My mistakes were on the strat file and not paying close attention.

    I changed one thing and left the other unchanged. For example, in the EDB file, which I did correctly:

    building barracks_roman and so on.

    In the strat file:

    building
    {
    type barracks muster_field
    }

    What does this result in?
    ---The game will load and the map generated, but the barracks won't be of roman culture, it will say "Barracks (Greek)"---I am guessing the default between greek and roman. A player can destroy this greek culture building to get 200 denarii (may be a circumvension of the game for money ), and it won't be overwritten after constructing the first level roman barrack.

    The corrected line:
    building
    {
    type barracks_roman muster_field
    }

    -----Now the building will be of roman culture.

    I basically just followed step by step in adding the two new buildings to the 1.5 version. In the enums file, i put all entries at the bottom; also, the same thing for the text folder bldgs file.

    As a result of this, the game will read the secondary UI folder for buildings, interfaces etc.

    PS: I got the loading screens for RTR6 and EB to work; EB's interfaces also work; RTR6 units also load up well.

    I unpacked the EB packs folders to get the buildings. I then added these building to the secondary UI folder.

    I am a happy happy bugger...

    BTW, the EB nomad buildings are undergoing massive revisions in terms of graphics, EDB structuring, and function. Hope they'll be enjoyable when we finally get them released with a port to 1.5.
