Thread: Problem with RTW/BI

    Default Problem with RTW/BI

Okay, so I installed Barbarian Invasion, and patched it up to 1.6. But now I can't play the original imperial RTW campaign! I can load it fine, but after I choose which faction I want to play and click on the button to start, it goes back to the Single Player menu. Has anyone else encountered this? I checked out the Bug threads in the RTW forums and haven't come across anything like this, although I haven't yet read through them all (those are pretty long threads). I tried to install RTW a second time, hoping to put it into a different folder and just play the original from that, but the installer won't let me.

The same thing happened to me once when I tried to delete and then reinstall both R:TW and BI. Not quite sure what messed it up, but I uninstalled them both again, then deleted their registry entries and it worked fine the second time. Hopefully someone more tech savvy can help you before you have to reinstall it all over again.

Did you mod the original game to make all factions playable
? Because if you do now you need to add a description or it will bounce you back to the main screen.

I have reinstalled and had the same problem. What folder/file has the faction descriptions for me alter?

You didn't say if you mdded it or not. If you didn't mod RTW to make all factions playable you shouldn't have to add descriptions because they already have them. So you didn't install anything else besides RTW, BI and the 1.6 patch?

Did you install the things in this order?

    RTW
    BI
    1.6
    "Get Down Or Lay Down"-Beans
"A disorderly mob is no more an army than a pile of building materials is a house"-Socrates

Happened to me when I first tried installing BI. You're just going through some teething problems. Only way to clear it is uninstall everything, clean out everything, install again in the right order.

It happened to me when I changed the name Pergamum to Troy. Then I changed it back and I could play again.

Okay, just to make sure I understand. If I uninstall everything and reinstall in this order:

    RTW
    BI
    patch 1.6

Both games should work fine, correct? And if I do this, can I then go into the config file for RTW and make the other factions playable, or will that screw things up for me again?

It shouldn't, as long as those are the only mods you install. I have the same problem after editing the SQPR faction starting denarii and armies, since I didn't save the original (stupid me...) I'm going to reinstall everything.
