Thread: re-emergences

  1. #1

    Default re-emergences

i dont know if anyone knows the right mechanics, i dont know how to figure it out and i havent read anything to describe it.

but i think they only re-emerge if they had a young one under age? thats how they escaped, and later re emerge, the spanish, aragon, turkish and byzantine have all recently emerged, but they also were recently destroyed. but i havent seen from germany or england in over 50 years in my campaign.

just made me think maybe thats how it goes. also the kings are named the same just a bit later models ( Louis IX or whatever, and last king was around VII or so.)

or does it happen randomly all the time?

germans have re emerged too, it seems to just happen randomly. is it simple enough to mod it out? or better yet mod it so each faction does it once and once only? i like fighting them once again after so long without them, but i dont like them to just keep on coming.

These are the triggers for re-emergences :

    a) all factions other than the players's may re emerge in any province the particular faction has owned, even for just one turn
    b) loyalty in a province a faction may re-emrge in must be below 120 %
    c) at least one of the factions heirs must have escaped ( ? ) , meaning he must have had a son at the moment his faction and he himself died.

    Well...thats supposed to be it.

So, you should always keep the loyalty in conquered lands above the 120 %, factions may re emerge as much times as they like

    so its definatly 120%?

is there a way to mod it out completely or so it can only happen once per faction? or atleast change it too less then 120% so i can control it easier

    I actually like re-emergences.

It is pretty medieval to see something like "A last hier of the rulling family who escaped detection has arisen and raised a rebellion that has been joined by many others in an attempt to re-establish his faction".

so fun setting them off in enemy territory as well! I actually make it my mission to make factions re-emerge, I see myself as a force for cosmic balance

    amen to that.

It is fun, and it really has a chivalric element to it that fits Medieval Total War well.

I found that Re-emergances only occur in provinces that the faction previously owned, and at the time of re-emergance these such provinces are held by the rebels. So to simply prevent re-emergance, make sure you are in control of all their provinces!

You should keep in mind that province loyalty is dynamic, and varies with events that occur during the turn after you press the "END YEAR" button. Even though you have loyalty above 120% when you press the button, events may lower that level below the threshold during the turn. To be safe, you should allow yourself a substantial extra margin if you want to guarantee no AI emergences.
