    Default AI Diplomatic Kuhm-buy-ah

Seems like the AI are all soft for eachother. I dont know if you guys have edited the diplomacy at all? I was able to stay allied with the seleuks as macedon for 60 turns or so, and the romans until I stopped giving them gifts for a while. Well anyway, just seems like most of the AI factions are either allied or protectorates of eachother. Sometimes a war will break out, then maybe a few turns later the factions involved will be allied.

In my current campaign, rome is allied with all the celtic states, germany, arverni, and...whatever the other one is. Not the Casse, who've got their own private Kuhmbuyah in britian. I dont think they've ever come off the island.

Anyway just some observations, anyone else had similar expieriences?

I've mostly just being playing casse mini-campaigns when i get a few hours so i haven't noticed the EB ai diplomacy much.

But generally in RTW the ai takes a lot of notice of relative military strength, how many other wars it has going on and also if it has available rebel-held targets to attack. Could be the stronger rebels mean the ai is staying neutral longer with the other factions in those areas where that applies. This is cool in a way as the war-frenzy you get in RTW sometimes seemed a bit unrealistic to me.

The progression of the AI factions are slower in EB, but we think it's more realistic that way. It's not supposed to be easy and quick - building up an empire. Even for the AI it's slow going, but the eventually conquer most all of the rebel provinces if you give them a while. Some might remain forever independent though - but that's sorta cool I think.

    I would concur :)

Well even after most of the rebel provences have been taken, the factions still seem to want to be at peace. Yes I agree it was(is?) sort of ridiculus sometimes when factions are war crazy when their situation is hopeless.

Okay okay, I have to say it, this isnt ROME: TOTAL KUHMBUYAH

    Though that sounds nice!

I am currently at 245 BC and the Ptolemies have made the Seleucids and Carthage their Protectorates eventhough both have massive armies. So now Seleukia and and Carthage are not doing anything and egypt already has a treasury of 500.000.

Rome has made the Aedui their protectorate and is gaining massiv cash too. Same Problem the Aedui have plenty of armies and cities so i dont get why they surrendered.

Is this a porblem with 1.2 Rome or with 0.74 EB? Has anyone else seen this?

This is a problem with RTW 1.2 I think. Remember that the save/load bug is active in this version. When you load up, the AI does some strange things. Such as accepting becoming a protectorate when they are stronger than the other nation. You can get the ai to do these things for you if you want to exploit it. I sometimes exploit it if I want peace with someone and they should by rights surrender but still won't. Mostly, a reload will produce the results you want.

Certainly I experienced this in RTR as well - quite a few times. Should be sorted by the time it moves to 1.5 as that bug is cleared up there.

I believe there's a script or something to become another faction.... Maybe you should take a look at the scriptorium or something you should find it in one of those fora I think.

This makes a lot of sense actually. I always wondered how the ai seemed to be able to create protectorates so easily.

Yes, I've definetly seen the protectorate thing with faction that still have vast lands and armies. I dont know if its a 1.2 thing or an EB thing, as I have only used 1.2 for EB in memory.
