    Default Jack The Ripper

I am surprised I have never seen a thread on Saucy Jack before in the Monastery.

I have recently become fascinated by the worlds first serial killer, I suppose that it is because he was never caught. That he had apparently no motive (other than being nuts).
I have found a really awsome site http://www.casebook.org/

Just wanted to start a discussion on Jack for the sake of hearing wether other people will then take me for some kind of demented maniac and what they have to say on the matter (Jack that is, not me, you already know I'm crazy).

Now that the House of Commons is trying to become useful, it does a great deal of harm.

Many historians believe Gille De Rais, Marshall of France during the 15th century was one of the first serial killers.

serial killers have probably always been around. Jack the Rippers case is unique because its one of the first that involves mass media.

    Probably very true.

I have read Patricia Cornwells book about the Ripper, very intresting, and hard to argue against her but that is probably since her book is the only thing I have read on the subject.

Anyways according to her it was this famous painter who was the killer. Things she pointed at was that he had a seriously deformed genital region and from operations, pains and shortcomings this had turned him into a beast. Also his paintings, in Patricias eyes, very much resembled the deeds of the Ripper. I cant remember the painters name now but a very good read it was that book.

Ah, Walter Sickert was the painters name, and she also used some letters sent by Sickert and some letters sent by the Ripper and made some sort of DNA analysis and found that it matched.

However all her "evidence" is questioned.
