I assume you mean the big panel at the bottom of the screen. This can be changed in preferences.txt by setting minimal_UI to true.Originally Posted by Topper

But then you'll lose the battle speed options making it a headache.. At least, it did for me. A battle taking more than 5 minutes.. (If they were 5 minutes of fighting that would be cool, but normally they go away because of marching)
"Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."
Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton.
You just need to set up some key bindings.
I use the three keys right of the L key for: Normal, Double and Triple speed settings respectively.
Or just use Ctrl T (I think) for instant triple speed on/off.

Thanks for the replys guys! I'm pretty sure I used to be able to minimize then restore that panel during battles with a key press rather than a config hack. I'm certain of this! I'll check around and post back here when I find it.
