    Default Old Games, please help

I was wondering if anyone thought Call Of Duty was good enough for me to buy, or Medal of Honor Allied Assualt.

I want a shooter from WWII, but I don't want to spend $50 for Call Of Duty 2.

    Thank you.

Yes, both are greay in their own rights. I suggest Call of Duty, since it is actually an 'unnofficial follow-up' to MoH: AA.

I think you should be able to get CoD for €10 these days, you might find a deluxe edition or smth similar that adds the expansion too. (Expansion: United Offensive is okay; singleplayer = more of the same but mp is vastly improved.)

I played COD and felt that I got my money's worth. It's a fun FPS and it also provides at least a taste of what WWII could have felt like, from the grunt's perspective (if you were a semi-invulnerable supersoldier with unlimited ammo). The atmospherics are very good.

My only real complaint with the game is that it's one of those "you're on rails" shooters, where you don't have much freedom of choice. Beating the mission basically means learning a series of moves, so the first time through a mission can be a lot of fun, but there isn't much replay value. I think I only replayed a few of the missions before shelving it. But at current discount pricing, I think you'd get your money's worth.

What kind of ww2 fps do you want?
If you want a realistic game 'red orchestra: Ostfront' is the only way to go (Focus on multiplayer)
On the more arcady side I would go with CoD myself, even though MOHAA is a great game.

CoD2 isn't that good at all, CoD is better in my book.

If you want a cheap WWII game, I recommend Hidden & Dangerous 2. The gold edition can be picked up for cheap and it's a pretty decent game. Not as flash as COD, but focuses more on tactical, commando style gameplay. There's a bit of multiplayer support still, but the singleplayer is worth the price alone.

I'll throw in my two cents worth. I have MOHAA and one of its expansions--Spearhead plus I also have COD and its stand alone Expansion COD-United Offensive.

Of the two I would have to pick COD over MOHAA First of all being a slightly newer game the graphics in COD seem better. MOH uses a lot more unrealistic re-spawning of enemies until you pass the re-spawning point.

MOH has one of the most unrealistic and irritating missions I have ever played in an FPS. It is a mission where you have to make it though a village full of snipers.

Since the game mechanics do not recognize "cover and concealment" for anyone but the enemy, you are forced to get killed--then reload over and over again until you locate the position of each and every sniper. You cannot expose the warmth of your smile anywhere in this mission without getting popped.

Once you figure out the enemy position, then you have to jump out and hip shoot just to get the sniper. This mission alone almost made me not want to finish the game. In fact I recently re-loaded the game for another play through and quit about half way through this exact mission.

The game is also way too short. You could tell the way they ended the thing so abruptly that there were more missions being held back just for over priced expansion packs.

On the other hand, COD overcomes most of MOH's shortcomings plus it also has a much more realistic and cinematic feel to it. It actually has 3 separate campaigns--one for the US, one for the UK, and one for the USSR, so it is a much longer game than MOH. The expansion is a stand alone game that may be a bit shorter, but ialso structured with three separate campaigns--one for each of the major allies.

The first COD also includes a unique Russian tank mission, while the expansion has a unique B17 gunner mission. Both are quite fun for a change of pace in an FPS.

I have seen a combo pack with both COD games for somewhere between $20 and $30. That seems like a pretty good for two full games.

To repeat---get COD and/or the Expansion--it is just a better WW II shooter than MOH.

Both hidden&Dangerous is excellent, buggy as hell but FUN, the first one is free nowadays. Brothers in Arms is also pretty decent, it gets a bit old but makes a great first impression.

Between MOHAA and CoD, definitely CoD. But I liked Brothers in Arms more than both of them.

Thank you all of you. Hopefully I'll get one of these great games! My computer upgrades will allow for some good graphics!
