Try I've Found Her. Babylon 5. Free game. With Newtonian physics. A bit short but still good.

Guess I shoulda made that more clear. You need the original install, which the source code project .exe runs off of. The package includes an original install and the source code files, which are enough to run the game. It also includes some mods/user-made campaigns and media .VP files, which are used to upgrade graphics and such.

The_Mark - I am unaware as to the availability of a Newtonian phyics patch or plug-in, and the standard SCP install does not have it.

EDIT: It took me a long time (days?) to DL, probably a total of 20 hrs. I'll try to seed it whenever I can, though.

Alexander, are there any mods which allow the use of just mouse and keyboard as i dont have a joystick.

You can play the standard game without a joystick (check the options, or hit F2 at any point). Not advisable, but quite possible. I feel your pain - my stick has a broken rudder control. I have to disable stick-controlled rudders to play any flying game.

Gah. Well, one can't have everything.

I've played the game beforehand, and I have to say its my first flight sim in any genre and I love it. The story is very good, and with the graphic's upgrades made from the source code, it looks extremely good for its age. I play with the mouse and keyboard (A laptop even!) Its hard, but it's still fun. I'd highly recommend it. Its a shame it didn't sell well, its one of the better games I've played.

Its a shame about the company, I think the game should have done far better. It actually -isn't- abandon ware, but none the less it is posted on many abandon ware sites and the owners don't seem to care. Freespace appears to be a gem wandering through cyberspace now. Its hard to find a hard copy, so downloading is your best bet.

It really makes you feel like you're in a Sci-Fi Militaristic Novel/Film. You're such a small fry, and the large scale battles are just fantastic. The new graphic's mod really makes a world of difference. It's almost like being in an episode of Battlestar Galactica, with flak and tracers filling your screen. I'd highly recommend it. Its a shame it didn't sell well, its one of the better games I've played.

Whoop, I loved this game when it came out, and I STILL HAVE MY DISKS. Looks like a reinstall is in order. Excellent thread, thanks a lot ATPG

I think they have a mod for that, too. Apparently with some of the best graphics ever, or so I've heard.
