Default Alexander - Total War (new screens)

    (@mods
Sry,searched the other threads, but couldn't post in those I found, feel free to merge)

Some new screens but no substantial news from a german games site:

To sum it up, release date unknown, downloadble for a fee, six historic battles, 4 "new" factions (Macedonians,Persians,Indians and Barbarians),new units (i.e. Theban Sacred Band, indian Elephants and Maiden Guard)...

    Link to german site:

They gave this link as reference, but it's dead:

hmm,it is a shame that for a game with screenshots it wont be coming out for quite a while.

Some india countrys, macedonia,Obviously greece.Though it shoudl be good facing entire elepahnt armies

If it's Alexander I'd assume they'd all be one faction. guess depends on when they start.

Anyway I'd given up hope, good to see there's still stuff going around on this.

We will have to pay, no doubt about that.I think the point of this whole experiment is not to keep (us) customers happy but rather to evaluate the possibilities of online distribution.

I hope there will be a way to buy it in stores though, as I don't have a credit card and I'm pretty sure I am going to buy it,though I was very disappointed with BI, I am a big Alex-fan and all the Alexander-mods aren't nowhere near completion.

Also, I think I've read somewhere, that there might be new architecture for the indians, new voice overs and the scans from the uk pc mag suggested that there are animations for spearmen fighting from elephants, nothing that couldn't be done by the modders but still...

Not necessarily. Macedon was the hegemon of the Greek city states before and after Alexander crossed the Dardanelles.

I like how Axelander looks just like Colin Farrel. It reminds me of MTW's El Cid

They are breaking with that tradition. Have a look at this this post from a CA staff member.

I guess it will be downloadable and have a price tag. Bioware sells downloadable modules for Neverwinter Nights at $10 or under. I would expect something like that, or maybe £10 at most.

Cool Re: Alexander - Total War (new screens)

    Hello fellow Alexander grognards,

These are great screenshots Isnogood. Do you know what historical battle is being depicted? Will only the historical opponents be available in the game? It would be interesting to be able to adopt an ahistorical strategy IMHO. I am definately awaiting such a release. Can't wait to fight Guagamela or Issus using the Total War engine. Do you suppose that the Persian player will be able to have more than twenty unit cards available. How else will the extremely large armies that they had be depicted? I can't think that having multiple factions on the Persian side would be rewarding for the Persian player, although it would be an interesting way of simulating the dreadfull command and control problems Darius must have had.

You have to adopt ahistorical strategies. Try fighing the Battle of Cannae the way Hannibal did, and the Romans will win every time. I don't see how you could get the historical result for the Battle of Marathon either.

They won't be depicted. The total War engine can't handle battles of this size. I would expect the same 20 units max per player.[/QUOTE]

Can't wait for the expansion. I hope it comes in packages also, not only in download.
