    Default Al Andalus

So I'm going on holiday soon to Andlusia... my girlfriend thinks it is so we can sit on the beach... HA HA HA!

I'm looking forward to dragging her around all the castles and Roman monuments that I can find, in revenge for our endless shopping trips.

Anyway, we are staying in Nerja near Malaga and have a car. What should I definitely go and see whilst I'm in the area.

    Tips on restaurants also welcomed.

There is this huge empty river, a riverbed i think it is called in english. Lots of stuff down there, should be amazing. You wont find a castle in it though - but I think it is worth a visit. Lots of fancy shops and glassy facades etc.

It's excellent if it's what you're talking about.

    Cheers guys, Ronda looks good.
Is Granada worth visiting? How about Seville?

The first Roman colony in Hispania, called Italica, was set up near Seville by Scipio Africanus. There are extensive remains of an impressive Roman villa not too far away as well.

Grenada and Seville are both massively worth visiting. The Alhambra is one of those rare sites that Does Not Disappoint, however high your expectations. (But watch out, they have timed entry tickets. Better check out beforehand how you get one, in season you may need to prebook.) Good though Grenada was, I preferred Seville, its just a really nice city to wander in. In fact I think its my favourite city in Spain.

    I concur, Seville, Grenada, excellent.

Alhambra is a palace that is as palaces should be.
