first off the sarmatians

this is the princeple way of warfare for the sarmatians, horse archers.
armed with compound bows made from animal bone and wood, glued together and left to dry for up to a month, they are powerful bows. also compact, measuring only up to 80 cm long.
the bow and arrows are carried in a quiver called a "gorytos" and os always slung on the left side of the hip
his secondary weapon is a medium lenght sword forged from greek black sea colonies.
his only form of armor is his thick coat called a "kaftan" while its not real armor, it does protect from the harshe winters they have to face.
they come from many diffrent tribes of the sarmatians, including: siracae, roxolani,aorsi, saroumatae, and the alans.
these are sarmatians that have settled down from the nomad way of life and have built farms and towns.

bosphoran levys are recruited from the kingdom of the crimmean bosphorus.
armed only with a spear, thureos, and helment they are not to engage a heavier armed force, or they will be cut down.
these lancers repensent the shift of warfare from the majority horse archers to swift lancers.
armed with a contus, compound bow, and armoured in scale mail made from iron, they are the mainstay of the sarmatian way of warfare.
A Sarmatian warlord surrounds himself with fierce warriors as a personal guard. These spear-armed cavalry are an elite reserve for use in a moment of crisis
roxolani kataphractoi are the heaviest armored sarmatians available to a sarmatian general.
not only are the armored in scale armor, but the horse as well!
