    Default Horde Formations

    This discussion surely was before here on these forums...but i searched and i haven't found exactly what i want...so...my question is..Wich file can I mod that way the straight formations to become horde formations ?......example Germania...for instance i want the choosen axemen to be in horde formation like the screecthing women.how ?thanks

    Open 'export_descr_unit.txt'. Find the chosen axemen entry, and where you see 'square' change it to 'horde'.

    it works....now i have 2 more questions:

    1.When I will fight against the germans that will have choosen axemen units...did they still be in horde formations ? or only when I play as them it will be in HF?...so i want to meet them in battle into horde formations..not only when i play as germans

    2.Can i make the spear phalanx german units in horde formation to ?

    The chosen axemen will now use the horde formation all the time. You can change the spear unit into horde formation, but you will need to remove the phalanx ability from them.

    How can I remove the phalanx ability? I know that in the game is this option.....but what will happen when i activate phalanx ability? the game could crash ?...Is there other way that I can remove the phalanx ability ? or the only single way is within the game....perhaps another txt file to mod ?

    Yes you can also take their phalanx ability away using 'export_descr_unit.txt'.

    Next to 'square' will be 'phalanx', remove it.

    If the unit has a secondary weapon, you should also remove it (In this file and desr_model_battle.txt) but I don't think the German spear warband does.

    That's it.

    Yes, it does. It´s something I´ve looked into a bit, you can basically make any unit phalanx-capable, by giving them the Phalanx as a possible formation. Their primary weapon is overwritten with the phalanx spear. However, in order to use the secondary weapon the CAS model needs a secondary weapon as well and there has to be a second animation set in model_battle_descr, or else the hand will be empty. The Greek hoplite model, for instance, has a spear as primary weapon, but you only see that if you remove their phalanx ability. Keep in mind, though, that any unit´s CAS can have two weapons, but only cavalry, ranged and phalanx units are able to use them. Trying to use them with any other units results in a crash, the Triarii, for instance, have a gladius as secondary weapon, but as long as they´re not modded to be phalanx-capable giving them secondary weapon stats will cause the game to crash.

    thanks again guys,now i have other problem....i cant find that file that allows me to mod the mercenaries square or horde formations...i want that barbarian mercenaries to be horde f.not square.annyone knows what that file is ?
