I know how to add a description to (normally) unplayable Factions, but could somebody give me a clue on how to show their starting areas on the minimap on the Imperial Campaign screen?
Thanks!

You'd need to edit it in an art program. I did a bit of that with Paint Shop Pro.
You need to start a campaign with the faction, then take a screen shot. Use photoediting software (photoshop, gimp, paint shop pro, etc) to crop the mini-map portion out, save with appropriate name and file type.
Actually Shieldmaiden asked a good question. I also wondered about the same thing. Besides editing the map in a graphics package (Photoshop, PaintShop Pro) the hard part would be to add it to the game, so that when you click on the faction in the selection stage of the campaign, you will see it's description AND the minimap objectives.
The other ipmortant part would be the dimensions and image type (tga, png or jpg) of the map file.
So, assuming that the map for faction X is done in some graphics package, what do you need to do in order for it to be visible in the game's faction selection screen?
I hope I've made myself clear enough.
