    Default Protectorates: A few Questions.

Ok, I'm doing a Macedonian campaign in RTR and I had a few questions. First of all, is there a limit to how many settlements the other faction has that you're trying to make a protectorate? What exactly does a protectorate help with? More money? Protection from attack from them? Please help me out here.

well i think protectorate is the same for all mods or regular RTW. i think their provinces count as your province. they dont protect you i think. thats all i know. im not very sure because i only started gettin protectorates this month in my campaigns. (i read a diplomacy giude.)

I'm pretty sure they pay you tribute each turn, their regions count as yours, and only you can break the agreement. That said, it is possible that they abandon the agreement. IE if your ally attacks them or you attack their ally.

I'm not quite sure what you mean on your first question. As said by spartan and glaucus their settlements do count as yours and they will never attack or cancel your alliance unless what was previously said by glaucus and if you try to demand anything of them. The only diplomatic relations you can have with a protectorate is offering them gifts anything else will cancel the alliance. The amount of money they will give you usually depends on the size of the faction. If a protectorate is inbetween you and an enemy faction your enemy will attack them first. And something I thought was interesting, any faction will become your protectorate, no matter the size, at any time for 1 million denari.

I dont know if that helps or not.

I think that would take longer than gaining the money normally.
