Well? Poll.
edit:
violator
excitor
many many others
I've heard of the name, but what type of music do they play?
"Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite." - John Kenneth Galbraith
Isn't that the band the "I don't want to sound like a queer or nothin" guy in Orgazmo likes?
I just can't get enough.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

What is the question in this poll? I don't get it.
Depeche Mode is a synthpop band from teh 80's and 90's, and they have some awesome songs like Master Servant and Personal Jesus. It's definetly in my top 20 bands I love.
I guess he means if you like them or not - though I agree that the question is asked in a peculiar way.

hell yeah. too bad they stopped making music - although I'm not crazy about stuff after violator...
Therapy helps, but screaming obscenities is cheaper.
No they just came out with several new albums. The last one being "Playing the Angel". Before that was "Excitor" and before that was "Ultra".
They are very much still around, though not mainstream as they once were.
Go to Amazon.Com and check out some samples.
Awesome music when you get snookered.

I like their earlier stuff: I Just Can't Get Enough, People are People, Master and Servant, Somebody, Personal Jesus, Policy of Truth, Everything Counts etc.
Bob Marley | Burning Spear | Robots In Disguise | Esperanza Spalding
Sue Denim (Robots In Disguise) | Sue Denim (2)
"Can you explain why blue looks blue?" - Francis Crick
I got Violator a while back because it was the quintessential Depeche Mode album and only liked a few songs; it's just music for melodrama. Not my cup of tea.
DA, I know about the albums after Violator - that's what I said in my post, that I'm not crazy about the stuff they came out with _after_ Violator. Listened to Exciter and Ultra, some stuff is okay, but I prefer the old(er) style.
And one album every 3 years or so pretty much means they stopped making music - to me, anyway ;)

They fitted well in GTA:San Andreas, one of their tracks..
Runes for good luck:

I'm suddenly reminded. I had a strange dream the other night where some car down the street from where I was was playing some strange, upbeat dance remix of People Are People, only all the lyrics were in Finnish. I woke up totally unconcerned with the action in the dream, confused by the soundtrack.
Enjoy the Silence.
Why do you hate Freedom?
The US is marching backward to the values of Michael Stivic.
OT: Speaking of dreams I woke up to Holy Diver by Dios this morning...had one of the best days of my life...
On Topic: Depeche Mode is cool too.
I voted "hell yes" but in fact I'm not that excited about them. I like to hear them on parties but I wouldn't buy the music.
Yeah, I like them. Good songs, good sounds, good arrangements. Consistent albums. Boring shows. Insignificant as soloist musicians. I have most of their stuff, up through Songs of Faith and Devotion. Come to think of it, I have Exciter and Ultra too, but neither of these excited me.
A favorite collection of Depeche Mode tunes I have is actually not by DM--it's a bunch a Trance goups that did tributes. Excellent remixes.
Some DM songs that I like are:
Black Celebration*, Fly on the Windscreen, A Question of Lust, But Not Tonight*, A Question of Time (from Black Celebration)
Get the Balance Right, Everything Counts*(from People are People)
Never Let Me Down Again*, Strangelove*, Behind the Wheel* (from Music for the Masses)
Policy of Truth*, Enjoy the Silence, Waiting for the Night (from Violator)
Walking in My Shoes, Condemnation, Judas*, Rush* (from Songs of Faith and Devotion)
I think of Depeche Mode and Erasure as the "yin yang" of 80s-90s technopop: Erasure being bright and "excited" (major keys and tonalities dominate), whereas DM tends to be dark and brooding (minor tonalities are more prevalent). If Depeche isn't dark enough to suit my mood, then it's usually time for a dose of Trent. On the flipside, if Erasure isn't happy enough, then it's time to go to the Pet Shop.
