I know a lot of org members are serving or have served in the miltary, so I would like to ask which is the best branch to join? Also, should I go to college for 4 years or just join straight up? Any info would be appreciated.
The branch of choice all depends on your aims and likes. Do you like the water? Do you want to be a pilot? What are your career choices in the near future? If you want to go into communications in the civilian world the military has many options and the same goes for many other jobs.
Personally I'd recomend just joining the national guard. Air or Army guard and your MOS (military occupational specialty) would be up to you. This would allow you to do the military thing while going to school. If your considering making the military a career this would add up your time in grade (I enlisted at 17 so I can retire from the military at 37 if I want to). Also you could do ROTC at the same time, which if you do want to pursue a military career would help you become an officer which is defiantely the way to go if you can afford it.
Also the NG would help pay for college depending on your State and when you've got enough credits to contract with ROTC you'll recieve a stipend of them your rank will be changed to a cadet and will be paided as an E-5.
There's also the danger right now of going to Iraq or Afghanistan. If this doesn't bother you at all then go ahead if this is an issue for you then you should wait until after college. My going to Iraq as a National Guardsman has secured the financing of the rest of my college time with the money I saved up in the year and a half I was deployed (not married, no children) and seeing as I plan on going the officer route anyhow in Armor or Infantry anyhow this also allowed me to experience the junior enlisted side which I think will prove invaluable when I'm an officer.

I would encourage you to join the Air Force, if possible. Generally, you won't get stuck with jobs that involve heavy combat, and the Air Force tends to get very nice facilities.

Dunno 'bout the US Armed Force, but here I can finish college then get into the military and work my profession. So, if I finish law school, I go to the army, get a rank, uniform and all that and work as a lawyer.
