Half-Life. I didn't even play till the end to be honest, the alien worlds were just silly and boring.

Are you sure? I have that in my Xbox version of the game. It's annoying how you have to do Nar Shaddaa first in order to get Mira to be a Jedi or influence HK that much though, and there are just too many bugs in KotoR 2, and the locked door aon G0-T0's ship is really making me curious as to what was meant to be there.
If anyone's played battlefront 2 (another SW game) that ending's pretty dull as well, and it was strange how easy the last mission was compared to the earlier missions where I had to try many times to complete.

Also, SMAC. No ending is worth the agonizingly long turns at the end of the game. I just don't have enough time to sit down and get it finished so it takes weeks.

Yeap. It's a bit suck. I wish that they've made an alternate ending. Anyway, that was how the story goes. Res supposed to be prequel of Cold War Crisis.Originally Posted by LegioXXXUlpiaVictrix

Half Life 2 wasn't much better. Just felt like a 'we'll be back after a message from our sponsors' provided that is you pay for HL Epsiodes. Which being a sucker of course, i will

In terms of anticipation versus reality of the released version, it was easily the biggest letdown I've ever experienced when it comes to games. I mean, even RTW wasn't as much of a disappointment--at least Rome's gameplay was essentially solid (even if it was poorly executed and implemented). [shudder] Oof, just the mere mention of MOO3 causes me to wince at the memory of it....

Yeah I didn't actually think it was the end of the game at the time. I thought you would go somewhere else and it would finish there. Although the Last Area was definately the best.Originally Posted by Catiline

The whole of Half-life2 wasn't that great imho, except the ravendal level it was pretty dull. It almost seems as if valve didn't expect the genre to evolve without their magic touch, yay another vehicle, hey cool a barral maybe I can shoot it so it splodes.
Half Life's gameplay & story started really strong and ended poorly. Those final levels on the alien planet were just silly and the final boss battle was god awful! Wait, I have to destroy the evil giant alien baby boss by bouncing on alien mushrooms while pumping rounds & grenades into it's exposed brain... WTF?!? However, I did love the very end of the game, the final sequence where Gordon is teleported back to the tram and the man in the suit presents him with a 'work for us or die' ultimatum. So technically speaking Half Life's ending (post-gameplay) was pretty good.
Half Life 2: Great gameplay... awful plot & story. For a game four plus years in the making I was a little shocked & dismayed to see a storyline so recycled & silly that it could have easily passed for a Sci-Fi channel made for TV movie. However as with HL1 the post-gameplay ending wasn't too bad, the man in the suit stopping time and appearing out of nowhere gave me a smile. Pity the annoying girl/love interest didn't perish in the blast because they're bringing her back in the expansion... yaaaayyyy![]()

I never liked the ending of MedievalTW, especially when compared to ShogunTW. Just a crude picture of a throne room with narrative tribuit.
Shogun, on the other hand was very cinematic and inspiring. I would alway watch it through to the end. On the other hand I hardly ever watch the one in Medieval after setting through it once or twice.
All they had to do liven it up was to make it a slide show of things related to the game or the faction that you had just won with, but no--even the credits are are more interesting.

Artillery adds dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl.
Gameplay wasn't that good at all, in the first the AI put up a decent fight, in the second they just stand and shoot or hide behind explosive barrels. Fighting just wasn't fun.Originally Posted by Spino

For me the ending to Halo 2 was the best because it was the end of the.
Plus for all of you dissapointed with MoO]I[, I really recommend downloading Bhruic's patches/mods as well as the "strawberry" mod. They really make the game worth playing.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

I don't actually understand Halo 2's ending.. what happened to Cortana? Also, does the ending mean no more jackals, prophets, brutes or those strange flying things?

When I first got my computer in 1999, it came with a demo of Descent: Freespace. This game got me into computer gaming, and I no longer wanted the newest console system. It only had 10 levels of the game, but it was so fun. I didn't realize it then as much as I do now. I remember wanting to get Freespace 2, but defaulting on it.
Thank you so much for reminding me.I am going to www.amazon.com right now and snagging a copy of both Descent: Freespace and Freespace 2 (I just ordered Shogun too
).
EDIT: To maintain the happy state of on-topicness, the most annoying game ending for me was Neverwinter Nights ending. I really thought that much of the single player for that game (though absolutely revolutionary and filled with goodness) was underdeveloped and just...bleh. They really should have gone in more detail as to the creator races and whatnot. Even the hack and slash games of Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale II had better endings (great games as well).

Aw, come on, it wasn't that bad. Actually I thought it was kind of hopeful. Much like the ending of the first freespace, in tone anyway.
...such is liberation.
My vote has to be Guts Revenge - Sword of the Beserk on the Dreamcast.
It was based on the very cool but also very open ended Beserk manga and anime.
I bought the game to try and get some more insight to the stories from the anime and manga but the game was even worse.
The manual had lots of drawings and descriptions of really cool 'skull knights' but you only see one right at the end of the game after you kill a wimpy level boss and he just says some incoherently translated and rides off.
Not impressed !
