    Default New Doctor Who series

Its back and as good as ever.

It would seem that ~8 million people agree with me.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4914294.stm

New Earth was a very strange, and in some parts a very funny episode.

In some parts is was very disturbing with zombie-type people and what had happened to them. The saying "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" comes to mind.

I think David Tennant will make great Doctor. Billie Piper is proving herself to be a very good actress.

How did I know that you would post this thread?

Anyway, I thought David Tennant made an excellent Doctor. Very different from Christopher Ecclestone, who is a very hard act to follow, but hey, change can be good.

That is actually on the Doctor Who website.
    http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/sounds/chav.mp3

I can't get the line "Its like living in bouncy castle” out of my head.

Or the bit when the The Doctor was first Possessed.
"Two hearts, I'm beating out a samba". Or something like that.

Speaking of websites, the Doctor Who website team has been very busy:

If you click on the "TXT MSG version" link, you will find this website:
    http://www.leamingtonspalifeboatmuseum.co.uk/index.html
    Look around it. Very odd.

I have only seen a few minutes of a few episodes but the show seems a bit corny to me. I am a huge Sci-Fi fan though and may watch an entire episode when I have more time.

Corn is good. If you are in the USA it is last year's series of Doctor Who that is on the Sci-Fi channel.

Hmm. I must be the only person in the universe who wasn't too sure about David Tennant. Some great dialogue from Russell Davies but ONCE AGAIN he seems completely incapable of/disinterested in finishing a story properly (hey ho, the episode is nearly over, lets spray some water about and say they are all cured. Bet those cats were annoyed they hadn't thought of that).

But bring on the Cybermen, I say.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Great until the last few minutes, where they ran out of time/money presumeably and cheated.

Suitably corny but definately better values than the last series. :)

How else would you save the diseased zombie people?

That part of it was about character building. It is the first episode with the 10th Doctor, you have to establish his character.

I think the hole zombie thing was in it to compare Cassandra to the Doctor. When Cassandra discovers the zombies she tries to bribe the cat people, whereas the The Doctor is outranged. Cassandra would probably try to kill them all, whereas the The Doctor saves them.

How come the first Doctor actor quit after 1 year? Did he think the show sucked that bad?

How come they added a pointless Black guy to the cast in season 2 - I really don't like that character.

I watched a few episodes of season 1 and the season 2 Christmas special. Seems like the first Doctor was not at all Doctor-like and the second Doctor is a schizophrenic Which is also not at all Doctor-like.

The show would have been better if they had a competent casting director who was capable of casting Doctor-like actors to play the Doctor.

I don't know. There have been many reasons given:
-He only wanted to be one series.
-He did not want to get typecast.
    -He was overworked.

How come they added a pointless Black guy to the cast in season 2 - I really don't like that character.
He travels with the the Doctor in the 2nd series. He becomes braver and more useful.

Seems like the first Doctor was not at all Doctor-like and the second Doctor is a schizophrenic Which is also not at all Doctor-like.
Can you be a more specific.

The 10th Doctor is not schizophrenic.

The show would have been better if they had a competent casting director who was capable of casting Doctor-like actors to play the Doctor.
    What do you consider "Doctor-like".

That pointless black guy (Mickey) was on 1/3 of last season. Mickey was in the premeire. He and Rose are a flip of the way doctor side-kicks used to be. That is the girl is only good for screaming and running away while helping once in a while. Where as the guy side-kick is the smart heroic one.

You do realize that each doctor is very different than the last one. The 1st doctor (I've cooked up a nickname for all 10, 1st is Prof. Farnsworth) was a cranky underhanded old koot. In the second episode (where the Daleks are introduced) the only reason they meet the Daleks is because the Doctor sabotages the Tardis to explore more. The 2nd Doctor (Moe) was immature and played a recorder. 7th Doctor (the Carnival barker) was a schemer. 9th (Big ears) was written as a goof.

It's well cast. You've just never seen any Doctor but Tom Baker.

A very good first episode but im not sure about the up coming one. Main as I prefer it when the doctor goes forwards in time. More scinece fiction.

Like when his hand gets chopped off and then he magically grows a new hand right away. Then a little while later he says: "My new hand, it's a fightin' hand!" and he sounds like a totally uneducated hick from a trailer park in the USA as he is saying that. If that's not schizophrenic then I don't know what is.

As for what I consider Doctor-like: to the best of my recollection the Doctor is supposed to dress and act like a professional and intellectual, and have a decent amount of hair.

That was supposed to be a joke. Might be British humour.

Ok then. Personally I think of the Doctor as an eccentric genius.

I like the latest episode (Tooth and Claw). As with all of the other episodes of the new series there was a nice mix of everything.

Some things that I found interesting:
-The werewolf said to Rose "you have seen the wolf as well" (Or something like that), then something about the sun. Maybe it is to do with the bad wolf stuff from last year?
-Touchwood, is going to be spin off series. Now we know where that comes from.
-Was Queen Victoria inflected was the werewolf blood? I think she was and the last few minutes of the episode sounded like it setting up a later episode.

    Also from this website: http://www.drwho-online.co.uk/
The overnight ratings are in for Episode Two: Tooth And Claw. Unofficial figures from www.viewingfigures.com, show that Doctor Who achieved 8.9m viewers with a total audience share of 42.3%.
That means it has increased from last week.

    This wrbsite has been updated:
    http://www.whoisdoctorwho.co.uk/

It has a link to this strange website:
    http://www.visittorchwood.co.uk/
Like the last one there is a small game to play and a link to that wierd ice cream company.
