    Default No more units?

Once again, EB is suffering from a lack of 3d modelers. I'm not exactly sure why the people we recruit just leave without telling anyone (one recently with 3 units done that he never submitted...), but we need more. We're nice people, we don't bite.

Why would people just leave without even saying anything? How many people have actually done this, just left? Maybe they have had a computer problem or something... Or does EB have enemies? Like the RTR people, i can see how the RTR people might feel that the EB mod threatens them, because EB has had more effort put into it and is more accurate and has actual historians/excavation people working on it and is basically a better mod in all aspects than RTR, and that's before it's even finished... When it is finished it will just completely dwarf any previous mod as well as any future mod for RTW...

So maybe RTR spies or diplomats have infiltrated your cities and bribes/assasinated your 3d modellers!

Of course, we know that. Generally, people are courteous to warn you if this is going to happen though, especially when you spend time working with them. ;) I suppose there is not asking for civility over the internet though. Here's the skinny.

WE NEED MODELERS. Can the RTR talk, as most of the RTR team is now friendly with the EB team, and there is essentially no more rivalry other than a friendly one. That drama is long gone.

Perhaps you could reach out to your friends over at RTR and see if they can give you any help in the way of 3D modeling.

this doesnt really answer your plea, but what programs are needed in order to do modeling for rome total war? I ask this as ive been following this mod for some time and i would love to help, perhaps if i can find out what programs and skills are needed i can start practicing with them, and maybe see whether ive got what it takes to model.

3d studio Max. I don't believe Maya can be used for this.
For skinning you could use photoshop or paintshop pro

What types of file specifically are you working with? DDS? or CAS? Something else? Would blender work? Could somebody create a plugin in for it if it needs it? It looks like if someone had some coding knowledge they could create a plugin, and thus open the field to anyone, instead of either illegally obtaining 3dmax or spending a large sum of money to get it.

For moddelling you can only use 3DS Max 8. Only that one, because it's the only one who has a plugin, made by Verc.

As for skinning, use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

well, it is possible to import 3dsMAX files into Alias Maya, so you can model/texture etc in Maya, and then SAVE you file as an .OBJ file, and then import that one into 3dsMAX and then export to a .CAS file.

This is the way i always do it cause moddeling is way better in Maya i beleave;)

    but you still need 3DsMAX

myeah but that shouldn't be a problem, would it? if the only reason that you use it is to export files to .cas, than there a more than enough ways to get it, i beleave that you can get the 30 day trial and use that as to save you files to .OBJ

If Vercingetorix made one for 3dmax, could he then not make one for the blender program?

You guys are asking for Alexander the Great' casket to be delivered to your front door.

No way, because it takes a lot of time, plus MTWII is on the way.

Does the packaging change from game to game? It seems pointless to change the internal format for each TW game. I've been looking at his coding and comparing it to what the program comes with, from the little I know about coding it doesn't look like a lot needs to be changed. It'd be nice if Verc himself would give his say on this, or at least permission to adapt his code for the program.

I'd be fine with just Alexanders skull, I've always wanted one, the full casket would just take up space.

No 3ds max version comes with the plugin. The plugin should work with 3ds max version 6 and above.

It depends. CA said that they are working on a completely new engine. No RTW engine can take up the huge amount of polygons used by the MTWII units, or at least that showed from the screenshots. The MTW engine is totally different than the RTW engine.

And to make a plugin for 3DS Max, you'll need to know some serious Visual C++(the code is made in C++ I think).

Verci doesn't log often, so you'll have to wait a bit for his answer.

As for Alexander, tell me. If you find his skull, give me a PM. You'll have to find the nose also, as it has been broken by Marcus Antonius, while he tried to kiss Alexander.(him or someone else)
