Correct - parents are responsible for their children until the time they leave the house.Originally Posted by Kralizec

Best thing is to have a trust relationship with your kids, followed up with a demonstration of responsiblity and caring. Not an abuse of their privacy, but a monitoring of their activities. The government's involvment with child rearing should only occur once the parent demonstrates that they are unable to maintain control of their household.
Until then I prefer the government to only be able to set minimum standards - ie yes indeed its wrong to expose children to sexual explicit material.
I agree completelyThere are already age ratings for video games. I say enforce them by making it punishable for a salesman to knowingly sell stuff (wether it be porn, or violent videogames) to people who are not old enough.
If parents decide that their kid is old and wise enough to handle a particular game (I recognise that age rating in itself is imperfect), they can buy it for their kids should they ask for it. That way, the responsibility still lies with the parents.
It also actually drives up the demand for the games.Banning certain games alltogether or censuring explicit language is just stupid.
