Patch problems

Ok.... this is what i dont get!

Installed RTW and BI, downloaded patch v1.3, no prob there, then when i try to install v1.6 and it says "this patch will only upgrade v1.3 to 1.5. u can download v1.3 at totalwar.com"!!!! I had already installed 1.3!!! tried it with 1.5 and the message says the same....to download freakin' v1.3!!!

Wassup??? anyone?

I had a similar problem. Dont write it in stone, but as far as I was able to figure out, the problem is that you installed 1.3 over 1.2 but it remained labelled "1.2 " in the registry (I saw a registry tag of 1.2 when I went looking). In frustration, I uninstalled everything RTW and BI and played MTW for a while. Just last week I did a fresh install of RTW (1.0 -> 1.2 -> 1.5) with no problems then RTR overtop and everything went smoothly.

I had the same problem when I installed 1.5. I found that when I uninstalled 1.2 it worked fine.

Tried installing Rome-»BI-»v1.5 and then 1.6 same message....

Gonna try installing only Rome-»v1.3-»v1.6....i'll tell ya how it went...

Are you sure you're removing everything RTW and BI ? Uninstall wont do it, you have to manually remove a bunch of files.

Yes, not only do i uninstall the game, i delete the entire folder!!!

this is beyond me..

Dont know why...but just repeated same as before and this time worked!!!

I was thinking to start patching since i have reinstalled RTW to be able to play BI:

- Downloaded the 1.3 patch from SEGA and try to run it, i get the following error message: Setup has encountered and error. Error code -6001

Is this due to me having installed BI? (Ive closed all programs, restarted and all such...)

Any helpfull hints?

Hmmm... i tried to just install 1.5 patch directly without the 1.3 and seems to have worked...weird?

Ok Since you both must have bought BI you need nothing to do with the 1.3 or 1.5 patches. If you installed BI RTW is patched to 1.3, BI itself is RTW 1.4. So if yo've bought BI DO NOT under any cercumstance instal an odd numbered decimal patch. They are for those without BI. You want 1.6 and only 1.6. Again only if you've bought and installed BI. Every FAQ says this just read them.

Congrats on doing it. You could have just modified the folder to say current version = 1.3, but oh well. Anyway, it's Sun Tzu sir, without the 'i'.
