    Default This has nothing to do with EB but...

    Since i'm banned from the .com i thought i'd say it here...

    I acquired MTW a couple of days ago and i have to say that, once you look past the bad battle graphics... It's better than RTW was! RTW's AI is so terrible compared to MTW, how did CA manage to make the AI worse than their previous game? I almost lost a battle yesterday in MTW to an army which was a lot smaller in number and also inferior as they had only peasants and archers, i had spearmen and archers... In RTW that wouldn't happen... The game is so much more challanging, even more challenging than the EB mod is!

    I just lost over a quarter of my huge army just now conquering Wales! All they had was 2 longbowmen units and 1 spearman unit, it was those longbowmen which they deployed on a hill! They were devastating...

    I like the risk style campaign map also, it's not as good as RTW's campaign map obviously but it doesn't look bad at all... But it's difficult sometimes to keep track of all your provinces when there is no list but it's no really big deal... It's a really good game... I can't say it's better than RTW yet for sure but at first glance it is superior in a lot of ways, i'm still learning how to play it completely yet.

    Oh boy, once you get more and more into it, you'll find more and more to love. It's superb. Truly wonderful game. Try the XL mod at some point, or one of the other main ones. They don't stray far from vanilla, but they're a great addition. There's also a kick-ass hellenic mod around and a bunch of other great stuff to get into in that world. Ought to keep you busy for a good while 'till the 1.5 port.

    Adds more factions, units, and provinces. It's good stuff.

    Yeah, MTW has some things that I miss, like upgrading your Family Member's units, cavalry dismounting, and, er, a much improved travel time by sea, as well as re-emerging factions (in certain situations). Crushing rebels and gaining money was nice; it was the only way I made money as the Danes or if I migrated as the Turks...

    How did the cavalry dismounting work?

    Just remember that the campaign AI did not have too many options either when it came to invading or defending, as it was RISK-based.

    What about BKB's super mod, thats the one I use. Its seems good and its bigger then XL mod. Which ones better?

    duh! i always said MTW was the better game.

    What I love about RTW-EB is that is is a learning experience. Of course it is nice to crush an empire when you feel like it but the learning experience makes RTW-EB superior to every other total war game or mod for me.

    The same question was asked in this topic. The answer basically is that each has its own strong points, and both are very good.

    I actually had no problem looking past the bad graphics... For me graphics do not make a game, provided they aren't absolutely terrible, MTW is a great game full of great ideas... Unfortunately at the time of making it the great graphics we are used to now weren't available to them.
