Thread: General Death

    Default General Death

    Does anything effect how old your general can get or is it just random? Do the In the Pink traits from teh health generals allow them to live longer? I'm guessing the ancillaries like doctor and physician don't because they don't say they do, but I thought the trait like about HP might? Has anyone looked into teh code and figured out what effects general death? Do general's in teh field have a better chance of taking cold than those in a city (barring plague of course)?

    I think it is random, but no one really knows. I doubt hitpoints influence health; after all the "scarred" line of traits also adds hitpoints, but heavy scarring does not extend your life expectancy.

    I've found that Generals in the field have a longer life expectancy than Governors.

    Do traits like 'One foot in the grave' increase chances of dying every turn?

    Garvanko: there's a thread about old generals somewhere, and all of them seem to be generals who get dumped into settlements.

    How does the game define traits to a general? I've had a few that were "weak chinned" Thats not very moral boosting if you see a roman general crying infront of his troops.

    Some are random, some come from what the character does or where he stays (namely the buildings in the respective city) and some are influenced by the parents.

    I´m not certain what makes a character long-lived, but in my current Julii game I´ve got a couple of family members of respectable age (almost all got over seventy), most of them from the early generation, the one that had to do everything by themselves, while the following generation tended to expire at an earlier age. So, I suppose to go about in the field is good for the health, at least as long as one doesn´t get killed in battle, of course.

    Does anyone know were all the traits are listed in the RTW game folders.

    Data => export_descr_character_traits.txt

    And for ancillaries:

    Data => export_descr_ancillaries.txt

    The second part of these files are dedicated to the various triggers that give you these traits. The descriptions of the traits and retinues can be found in Data => text => export_VnVs.txt and Data => text => export_ancillaries.txt.

    The files are rather hard to read, though. You can find three V&V listings in the useful links topic, but they are all for 1.2.

    Sure. You need a trigger as well as a description, though, or else the trait will never appear (not sure what happens without a description, but why risk a crash?).

    I think you can have "hidden" traits, i.e. without a description showing. If I remember correctly, the Mundus Magnus used one that made a couple of rebel starting characters unbribable. Though it still might have had an entry in export_VnVs.

    I was just wondering as I like to know how to do things. I have always tried adding a new settlement but it never works.
