Bad test. It makes no effort to list any good psychedelic bands; the only "psychedelic" on the whole damn list was Hendrix- where are the Doors? Jefferson Airplane? Iron Butterfly? Steppenwolf? The Byrds? Pink Floyd? Queen Janis? Hell, they don't even have the Grateful Dead!
Plus, I have tried four times now, and despite every variation and attempt to get "psychedelic rock" as an answer, I keep getting classic rock. And I know damn well I am not a classic rock fan. I hate Zeppelin.

Not really surprising.Heavy metal! You rock! It's mostly about the music instead of lyrics for you...but you channel most of the emotion through the lyrics! Mosh pit for you! Just be careful you don't give yourself a concussion with so much headbanging...

Meh.
Obviously, it wasn't very 'scientific'. Above all else, I dig the melodies. Double guitars w/ the bass and vocals, all that. So, SOAD, Blindside, Dream Theater, the like. As Zorba wonderfully eludes to though, some sounds are better for some altered states of mind. I don't know how many people have large doses, watch scary movies or really intense, violent-ish music, and then have a pleasant experience.

I always thought Pearl Jam and Soundgarden got thrown into the grunge genre because they were from seattle, they're more akin' to classic rock imnsho.Only because I picked three Grunge bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden) and two Classic Rock artist(s) (Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin) :) ..... Most of the choices are modern bands

Hmm. Tough. With that definition, how many more bands would fit in the Grunge category? Alice in Chains? STP? Smashing Pumpkins?
Pearl Jam's been influenced by Neil Young (which is sorta pre-grunge). Soundgarden is a cross between Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and even the Beatles (later).

Yes, after I posted I realized they did have a bunch of truely 'grunge' songs. But they were so much more than a small part of a 90s niche genre imho.
