Good questions.

kburkert - you might want to read this thread:

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=35969

And scale down your ideas a bit - start small with things that you can mod instead of expecting a team with all the skills you don't have to suddenly join you. That's what I did with the TFT mod, started small and made basic changes myself, then once I had the basics done and showed the community the first version, others with interest (and other skills) joined me and it grew from there.

Just trying to be helpful. :)

What exactly is the mod about? The early history of Rome? Then there's already a mod in the works, Paeninsula Italica:

First, OTW was closed because no one was coming up to help, lack of people, because i only posted in .org(big mistake).

Second, Stuie i have read that link. (useful for beginers, which i am not)

Thirdly, i have my historians working on factions, units and the time period. Also i have skinners, unit creators and designers.

Fourthly, Stuie (i know you are trying to be helpful) i do not need to scale down my ideas as i have not gone to far.

I've had no one come forword from .org, but loads of people from TotalWarCentre and Rome Total War Heaven.

Just need a map maker. (hint)

I've never seen any of your work so I didn't realize you weren't a beginner at this. What have you released in the past?

Edit: By the way, I based my comments on the questions you were asking in the Modding Questions forum. They seemed pretty basic to me - how to change unit names, how to add faction icons, etc. Sorry if my perception was incorrect.

kb, you haven't answered my question, are you doing the same stuff that PI has already done?

Maybe a rename? "Early Rome" is so...boring. Go for something foreign and cool sounding like Europa Barbarorum and Paeninsuli Italica did.

Also, some links to some previews, research etc would be nice :)

dsyrow1, i have to look at PI when i have time. Monarch if you go to http://rtw.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/f...t&f=9,3957,,10 is where our team discuss the mod. We also have a web site (might be changing) and the name will be changed at a later date.

PI is a lot further along and seems like it covers the same thing. It will be hard for another team to get folks as excited as they have been seeing the PI previews and shots. Unless of course there are some amazing things you've got up your sleeves.

Well, maybe that's so, but just stating from the point of view of an RTW modder who has no ties toeither of those two mods, it seems as though PI is in the very capable hands of experienced modders and is well on its way to fruition, while there doesn't seem to be much on ERTW to lead folks to think the same.

I think perhaps we have gone as far in terms of cautionary words and advice as is appropriate. Let's keep this thread confined to Early Rome Total War specifically.

kburkert - we look forward with interest to seeing the work in progress from your historians, skinners and unit designers.

Do any of you know if you can make wonders appear on the map at a certain date?
