for vanilla game you should be able to play as Italians but to play as Aragon or Sicily you will need Viking invasion xp.

Its worth getting for the extra units/factions and ability to change order of reinforcements and to save between battles (& other improvements i've forgotten by now). Oh yeah and an extra campaign.

Oh yeah and welcome to the world of totawar

It probably been cheaper to getting the pack that has both of them.

"Vanilla MTW" refers to the original game, minus the Viking Invasion expansion pack (also minus any user-created mods). So few people these days have *just* the original MTW, however, that the term doesn't get used that much anymore.

'Vanilla' refers to the basic MTW game, with no additions like VI.

Like ice cream, its the simplest version/flavour.

I would certainly not get the MTW gold pack, but rather the VI expansion itself.

You cant use the VI 2.01 patch when having MTW gold pack... sloppy coding. ;)

You can´t use it because it´s included. Or is it? My opening screen shows the version as 2.01, and its a bargain bin MTW+VI edition.
