This is funny, too, it seems maybe Redleg has been talking to someone who works for Wal-Mart.

Not at all - I detest Walmart.

The political satire nature of the movie is evident to any that watch the film.

If you want we can discussion why such a marketing campaign by Walmart using those particlur films was not a smart idea. It goes along with the old racist jokes about apes and blacks.

of course it was a bad move, but funny nonetheless. Anything that gives wal-mart grief is funny.

It is very possible that the person who rigged that match is such a nimrod he/she wasn't thinking about the apes/blacks aspect and was thinking of the movie similarity to the civil rights movement.

Must be a "cable thing" - ain't seen it on satellite.

Thing is, the first "Planet of the Apes" was a shocker for some that saw it for the first time. By todays standards it is mild - like salt to acid (Apes' being salt). Still, look at the time of its release and the response of it.

Film can have an impact. Well, at one time it could - and maybe even now. Today, however, people tend to drift towards the films that confirm their beliefs - versus challenging them or awakening ideas they previously had not considered.

We live in a duplitic world where parents have become so wise as to manipulate their offsprings into compliance to their well found beliefs. Me, I grew up in one that we challenged everything. Today, conformance seems to hold the key.

Ain't it a wonderful thing. "Little pink houses for you and me."

Sort of like that old Pete Seeger song Little Boxes.

Little boxes, little boxes, little boxes on a hillside,
and they're all made out of ticky-tack, and they're all just the same.

There's a green one, and a red one, and pink one and a yellow one,
and they're all made out of ticky-tack, and they're all just the same.

There's a doctor, and a lawyer, and a [presidential candidate],
and they're all made out of ticky tack, and they're all just the same.

Good point Major Dump about the movie. I have often had the urge to compare George W. with a chimpanzee more than an ape. You could have a major idea for a new satire here.
