Thread: Providing Animations?

    Default Providing Animations?

Greetings Development Team of Europa Barbarorum,
My name is Ryan, I represent a conversion mod called RTR: Platinum Edition. We have already released a very stable 1.0 Beta Version, which has recently received a patch to version 1.3.

Our goal is to provide a complete conversion of Rome Total Realism Gold Edition to RTW v1.5, which, among numerous things, allows us to enable night battles, improve the AI, and rid ourselves of the dreaded save/load bug that has plagued all v1.2 games.

So far we have received third party help with unofficial downloads, some included into patches to make them official. The most popular addition of this outside help is the Darth Formations modified by Darth himself to be 100% compatible with our conversion.

Though we are in a stable playable version of the conversion, we were unable to adapt the animations from RTR Gold into the v1.5 engine. We used SignifierOne's animation pack (with his permission of course) to provide a temporary solution while we sought outside help.

I have seen your mod in action personally, and the animations are superb. I, along with the team behind the conversion progress, and our loyal fans following it, would be extremely thankful if you would be willing to lend your animations to our conversion project, since we, like yourselves, currently run off of v1.5.

If you did provide us with your animations, credit would be appropriately displayed in the "Credits" section of the opening intros. If you require any other forms of providing credit, please provide them and I will see what I can do.

I thank you for your time,
    Ryman2489

As a notable aside, RTR Platinum does not represent the RTR development team. It is simply a conversion project by forum members to make RTR Gold compatible with the 1.5 patch for RTW.

    That is all

    Ryan,

Here is my suggestion. Alin, the EB Leading Animator, released some time ago an animations pack. Ask the EB leaders for permission to use it in your mod. Contains about 800 new animations.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

I know this is not strictly on topic but... Speaking of EB animations, what's happened since alin left? Will there be any new animations or tuning of those already in the mod?

If not, is it because there is no more work to be done on animations or because there's no-one to do them?

alin still works on some things for us, but I think it is primarily as a moddler now - though I could be wrong on that. aevionknight has been working on some new animations for us. He posted some out here a couple of months ago. We've been blessed with the guys who have taken the lead here for us in this area since we've started.

That sounds great. I really liked aevionknights legionary animations and look forward to seeing his work ingame.

Hallo people my opinion here could be a bit out of contest and i dont want to offend nobody:
What i want to say is: RTR PE is good, but there is RTR 7.0 coming, so why to waste your time in making a new mod (RTR PE) different from the two (EB and RTR)?
I dont want to be a sort of Giuda (the trahitor) for RTR (i really loved it) and i must say that their forum is pretty democratic and nice.
Now i want to say, you Rayman and Cheexta and Lesta seems so good in modding, so way waste your energy and why you dont give an hand to this mod to be completed? I say this cause i consider this mode the more deep ever and the more accurate, so i really care it. So i damn myself cause im not good in skinning, modding and other stuff, and i would to see people capable of doing such thinks using their skills to improving This Mod more and more. RTR already seems to have all the people they need, so why people capable dont help in EB instead of develope a further mod that will die when RTR7.0 will come out?

I repeat, what i want to say is not to offend nobody it was just a democratic opinion i hope, i only cant understand why everybody want to take this or that by another mod to make is own mod. Why you dont unificate you efforts on this mod instead?

If i seemed a bit ingenous and out of contest please pardon me and dont care, i just fallen in love for this mod and wish other people too

    Greetings Artaserse

RTR PE was a simple port to 1.5 to hold off the community.

They had been begging the devlopers of RTR6 for a port, and there was no time to do it with RTR7 and all that good stuff.

We helped out the devs, and have since moved on, Lesta to his Imperator project, myself to my Under the Eagle project and Cheexsta hangs on to provide further post release support, as do all of us.

I take my hat off to you guys for that, btw. As somebody who's deeply immersed in the EB port, I can testify that it's no easy task. Very impressive that (extremely talented) fans could pull that off.

Obelics: Well, for one, RTR 7.0 will be for BI, which means that people who haven't got it won't be able to play it. Also, I think they're almost finished as well. This is just the finishing touches (I think).

Well I for one do not mod for glory. I'm a player firt, a modder second. I mod the game so I can play satisfactorily .I surely have no problem with helping EB with their porting stuff, though I believe they're much pretty covered up. However, EB devs can always look into our discussions or some sort during the early process here for insights maybe if somehow they . Since our is a community project, there's no secret forum or anything.

Cheers and goodluck with the full EB version.

As one of the many modders involved in the RTR port (we have a list of credits that's as long as my arm! Well, maybe not, but close enough...), thank you for the kind words I, for one, am definately looking forward to the EB port and wish you all the best of luck. Indeed, if any help is needed I'm sure we can lend a hand - the RTR conversion project wouldn't have gotten anywhere without many people from the community pitching in to help.

I understand what you're saying, and quite simply the main reason I threw in my lot with the RTRPE team was because I needed to waste time It was really just a project to fill in time while 7.0 was still on the distant horizon.

In here I lived in Capua. In another world I live in Ravenna. In the real world I live somewhere else and I'm not even Italian.

    Sorry. Off-topic.
