Sounds good! Too bad it's for PS3.

I just stumbled across a Preview of this marvelous game in my copy of GameStar a German PC Games magazine, so no worries there, the game will definitely be available for non-console users like me.
Just for some detailed information:
The game takes place in the year 1191 during the Third Crusade and you have to kill 9 key figures that actually died in the year 1191 which all would have gained profit if the Third Crusade had been successful.
You get the chance to visit several locations in the Holy Land including Acre, Damascus and Jerusalem.
Just a little overview if you want to know more just check out the Official Website:

They already have several videos and a Designer Diary up there.
Another piece of information I got from the GameStar article states that the populace of the cities will take a major role in the gemplay. Your actions are supposed to have an impact on the populace. So if you start climbing a building in broad daylight a crowd will gather to see what you're up to or if you push aside several people in a crowd just to get to your assassination target they'll get angry at you.
On the other hand if you don't randomly kill bystanders or otherwise worsen your relations with the populace they'll begin to realize that you're ultimatley helping them by assassinating people they dislike and may help you by blocking the path of yor pursuiers or helping to hide you.
I really like the historical setting of the game and would just love to explore the cities as they might have looked in 1191. I've always liked the Thief series for PC but they had too much Fantasy in it, so I like the more realistic approach of UbiSoft. The information released so far sounds promising, but much depends on the implementation of the game mechanics. I'm already wondering what happens if I try to run through a crowded market square. Will the crowd part, do I automatically bump them all aside or will I just walk into a solid wall, while my character's animation still shows me running. If they manage to implement those things well and you can really move in the final game somewhat similar to what has been shown in the movies I am very tempted to buy this game.
Cheers!

I've been keeping an eye on this game too.
Apparently it's not a stealth game, so don't expect it to be like the Thief series. It's very likely that it will also feature fantasy/sci-fi elements, so don't expect too much realism either.
Now, the game is developed by the Prince of Persia team and I believe that might be a good starting point for what the final game will be like. We know it will feature a ton of climbable objects and context sensitive actions, like PoP. Since it's not going to be a stealth game, and it's very likely you will be chased by guards I actually expect this game to feature a lot of fast paced 'platforming' in order to make your escape. The abilities make me believe that the city will be sort of like a Castlevania castle in that a lot of areas will only be accessible after you gain those abilities.
Of course, i could be totally wrong with what it will be, Ubi claims it's going to be something totally unique, let's wait and see what they can come up with![]()

How could anything be like the Thief series, and no I'll just bluntly deny that there was ever something called 'deadly shadows'. The game looks interesting, but I am not getting my hopes up yet. The POP and SC are both enjoyable, but stealthgames need to be open ended.Originally Posted by doc_bean

I kinda stopped listening to developers, always the best intention but they have to feed the leeches to survive. Ubisoft has never pulled of a decent stealthgame, and now I admit that I am a horrible Thief fanboy but I have yet to see a reason why I shouldn't be given the offspring of it's competition. I'll just wait for the reviews and drool over Bioshock in the meantime.
