    Woah!

It made me think that everyone should live this long if they wanted. I have no problem being old as dirt, so long as I am surrounded by people that love me.

This lady was born in 1878! Can you imagine being alive until like 2105? That would be sweet!

Just thought we'd take a break from the usual to wish Cruz Hernandez a happy 128th birthday!!! Could you imagine what all this lady has seen with her eyes and experienced. She's practically lived two full lifetimes!!! Please feel free to list all the historical events that she has lived through.

    May 3, 1878. Assuming this is true . . .

At the turn of the last century, she was 22 years old.

She might have celebrated the end of World War One as a 40-year-old, old enough to be the mother of a soldier in the War.

She reached her 50th birthday before the Great Depression, at the beginning of sound movies.

She was 60 years old before World War Two.

She was 91 years old during the Woodtsock concert.

She reached her 100th birthday during the disco era.

Living to be that old (or older) would be ok as long as the quality of life is still good.

Just think of all the “when I was your age” things you could say.

I think any sane person should kill him/her self before the age of 30. Be a rockstar, live strong die young, why would anyone grow older than 30? To cling on to the illusion that life is something grandiose, to have children and a wife? For what? No thank you, if the drugs, the alcohol, the sex dont kill me before 30, I sure as hell will!

Yeah, and my testacles would hang down to my ankles and I could watch all my friends and family die. Oatmeal 3 times a day. Again, no thanks, this is why I smoke.

Spoken like a true Nietzschean, Sjakihata. For some reason I can't fully agree with you. I think the best way is to let the chips fall as they may and not care about whether you live past 30. What if you are in the middle of a good book when you turn 30? Or you are making a painting or writing a book, or about to turn level 20 magician on Oblivion? I don't know about you but I wouldn't be ready to go.

I'm with Dump and the Dane. I'd probably be miserable were I that old, provided I still retained my mental faculties.

So long as I was still metally together and my descendants still loved me I wouldn't mind being that old. I'd certainly take the deaths of all my immediate family pretty badly, just hope they could join me at that age. Wouldn't like it if there was no one to think of the good old days with. The worst would be if your family commited you to a retirment home when you were in your late 70's and ended up there another half century. Would be a good advertising factor for that home though.

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

Well, Im not sure Nietzsche would agree with suicide. Naturally I was overdoing my position, however, I still hold the belief that I wouldnt really want to turn that old at least. Luckily, I wont have to make that decision soon, and I will just cruise along life and see where it takes me, maybe I'll like the destination, if not - you can always jump out of the train.

    Reasons to Live Past 30

The wisdom begins to set in closer to 40.

You gain nostalgia for your childhood years, which makes watching old movies and TV shows more poignant and emotional.

I really began receiving more attention from women after I reached 40, more than even my fondly-remembered 20s. Wow, it's great! What youth is for women, maturity is for men—if you keep in reasonable shape.

Well, I know Socrates/Plato argued that only after the age of 40, should males be allowed to slip from the shcooling system in to and serving society (those who were supposed to serve) - however, Im not really inclined to agree with that.

    The rest sounds good though!

Life is definitely different after 30. IMO even with all the added responsibilities of a family, home, bills, ageing parents, etc. it is still better than when I was a younger. School sucked and college sucked (but not as bad) living at home sucked, I couldn’t wait to get out into the real world and now that I am, I love it. I don’t really think life started for me until my late twenties, all the time before that was just a necessary inconvenience. Kind of like the crappy first band at a concert before the headliners. Plus I think I’m twice as smart as I was when I was 18, I just hope I can say the same when I turn 60, 90, 120! I would also hope my health doesn’t leave me in a decrepit state.

Well, im not quite sure when I think my life started, probably around 15-16. Yes, I like living away from my parents and I enjoy going to university, but I refuse to think that my life at forty would be any better than what it is like now, at 21. At any rate - Im sorry that you feel you wasted the first 25 years of your life, for me 16-30 is the prime time and I wouldnt want to miss it for anything.
