cant add new army to province

[leader_of_men]

i made a new province and city for carthage but i cant get an army into the city. i know the province works and the co ordinates for the city are correct but when i try to put a general in the city in crashes ( doesnt CTD ) and i get and error message after i exit the game saying this:

unably to create the character general ( is gender correct ? )

i know you have to use a male name and i have i got the name from the carthage section of the descr_names and it isnt is use already.

this is the line i added to descr_strat
character Hannibal, general, age 20, , x 123, y 5
army
unit carthaginian cavalry exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
unit carthaginian cavalry exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
unit carthaginian infantry exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
unit carthaginian infantry exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0

any ideas of how to get this to work

have you added his name to the family tree at the bottom of the faction's section?

He shouldn't have to. The example is a "general", not a "named character".

Is that the exact wording of the error message?

how about trying to add "command 0, influence 0, management0, subterfuge," after "general," then? and i can't believe i didn't see the 'general' myself either... i'm an idiot

You get that message if haven't coded the general's properties correctly.

Your entry will look like below:
character Gaius , leader, named character, age 20, , x 141, y 74

Change it to:
character Gaius , named character, leader, age 20, , x 141, y 74

It should work then.
