The next generation games will look almost that good, so it might even be in-game footage, although a few animations etc make me doubt it.

There were this kind of trailers for COD2, and however good it was it wasn't nearly as good looking as the trailers led to believe.

    Well that's just my opinion.

    That's CGI.

And that's a title too soon. It doesn't look like it will be in the Pacific, so what the heck will they cover, history-wise? There's only so many times we need to retake Stalingrad, right?

lol! I hope they for once decide to depict the 1940 west front battles. Even if they would stick only to playing as the allies, it would be a very cool hectic campaign of defend+try to perform orderly retreat missions, and defensive counter-attack missions. The Norway campaign would also rock, and the Finnish Winter War would be fantastic. Unfortunately I think CoD has too confined spaces and therefore isn't tactical enough. Ideally I'd like to see a ww2 setting Operation Flashpoint with CoD graphics...

Edit: btw what does CG mean?

That looked like the game engine to me, not CGI. Same argument I made for the MTW2 trailer: why hire out custom CGI (which isn't cheap), when you've already got a modeling/render engine? It didn't look too over-the-top to me, just really high res. At most, they might be doing individual frame dumps to get a seamless framerate at that resolution. I'm just guessing though, based on what it looks like.

Fooey... I would be more excited about a COD3 if it was the Pacific Theater. That looked like just a rehash of what we've already done. But maybe the missions will be interesting enough to make up for it.

Well if thats not CG, my computer will definetly not handle that game.

I still hold my opinion that it is not in game footage. As Legio said, some of the animations could in no way be in game footage.

Legio - I forgot the I. CGI is computer-generated images, a shorthand way of saying a movie clip made by computer but generally not with a game engine.

Zenicetus - the CoD franchise can probably afford a hype-building trailer like that. And they'll probably make it all back up when everyone buys it because it looks so good in the video.

It's under the category "User Movies", and the poster shows several others of his work (including a CoD-United Offensive, merged with this CoD3 'teaser'). The guy's talented - but it's cinema, not game-play. Bummer.

    Ah well.

Maybe CoD3 will be innovative, then. Or at least a bit fresh.

I share your hope. The series fairly screams for new geography. Jungles, islands, Asian cities; any or all I would welcome.

But then all the casual gamer will be like "Omg why teh Chinese Nazi's lolrze?" None the less, the whole Asian theater besides the Island hopping and epic naval battle are forgotten.

And yup thats CGI, no way that melee fighting is ingame. But I'm still looking forward to it.

I hope the next CoD sticks to Europe. The Pacific stinks. I think they should revisit battlefields that have yet not been visited in any other WWII game.
Oh, and I can`t take much more of Russia.

Btw, found this on a clan site:

Revist not yet visited battle fields?

I would love to see action in China. I'm facsinated by that theatre. Burma would be nice too. Maybe even take part in the last great offensive into Manchuria.

Or Finland. I'm almost completely unfamiliar with it, so at least it wouldn't be the usual.

    The usual:

You are a Lowly Squad Mate from an unnamed American state, probably Ohio. Sometimes you're the New Guy and have to Fit In.

There's the Gruff Sergeant who's been in every war since the American Revolution. He's short-tempered and sick of you "new guys."

There's the Guy From Brooklyn, probably Italian. He's probably angry at the "Krauts" for killing his older brother in previous combat.

There's the Second Lt. He's fresh from West Point and ready to get you killed. The Gruff Sergeant has survived dozens of these poor guys, and he hates the latest version as much as the others.

There's the Corn-Fed American Kid Who Speaks German. Because, you know, how else do you interogate prisoners?

There's the Aloof Sniper. He's kinda creepy, and sometimes (paradoxically) a deeply religious figure, quoting scripture while increasing the body count. Other times he's the Corn-Fed American Kid Who Speaks German.

There's the Awkward Specialist. You probably need him for some bogus mission, but he just gets in the way.

With this cast of All-American Heroes, You set off to fight the Nazis and nearly single-handedly bring the Wermacht to its knees, narrowly avoiding capture and death along the way.

    Did I miss anything?

    LOL!

I think you nailed them, Alexander. I could maybe think of a couple more, but they're basically slightly different versions of the one you already mentioned anyway. Well done!
