    Default University College Utrecht

I have heard tell of this English-speaking College of the University of Utrecht in Dutchistan. Do any folks have any experience of this university? Is it good for sciences?

Also, are there any other University/Colleges in the EU or the Commonwealth with English-language courses that have the honours system, with majors and minors?
It was not theirs to reason why,
It was not theirs to make reply,
It was theirs but to do or die.

I have studied psycholigy there, but if you want to do science I suggest you check out the TU(technical university) in Delft, or the what's it's name in Wageningen. Most colleges are in english anyway so no problem there.

During her PhD my wife spent two months in the biochemistry department of the University of Utrecht (as part of a cooperation with the group she was actually working for here in Germany).

If you are interested in that sector and have any specific questions I could check with her if she can help.

Other than that, Utrecht certainly seemed like a great place to spend your time at as a student

The Royal Conservatoire at The Hague, that I have applied to, teaches in English. The closest thing to sciences there is sonology though... Oh, I see ArtScience too. FWIW

I have a lot of my lessons there. For sciences I don't think it'd be great, as Fragony said Delft would be good for that. UC is more for languages and the like, though I wouldn't hold me to that; if you've got any questions I could ask around when I next visit, since I know quite a few people who actually study there. As for the language, practically everyone speaks English here and quite a lot of university coursework is in English, apparently. Particularly sciences I'd imagine English would be dominant.

Utrecht as a city is great. Lots of places for a night out, plenty to do in general and a lovely city centre. Have had school there for some seven years, and it's great.

Like some people here have mentioned, Delft is the place to be for science/engineering stuff in the Netherlands, except for agricultural sciences/engineering, than it's Wageningen. I don't know anything about the other dutch uni's though, so thrust the Dutchies themselves on that one.

One thing I should warn you about is that, when my GF studied in Wageningen, many of the courses were in 'Dinglish', Dutch grammar and structure and Englsih words, not too easy to understand for most foreigners I heard. I'm not sure if this is the case everywhere or if she just got unlucky.

Also, are there any other University/Colleges in the EU or the Commonwealth with English-language courses that have the honours system, with majors and minors?
I don't know what the honours system is, but most will offer major/minor programs, since the EU told us to. A lot of the Masters are being taught in English these days (or have an English equivalent). Especially the Scandinavian countries seem to be fond of teaching in English (every Master I believe).

But if you're still going for your BS, I'd suggest sticking in the UK for a while.

Hehe, dutch teachers tend to think a bit too highly about their english, and they are too arrogant to take a course or two. You get completily rediculous things like 'I was trying to lead you around the garden', that is why there is a worst teacher award, the price is a chorizo. There is a hilarious book about dinglish, 'I always get my sin', every netherlands-basher should read it
