The buildings on the Acropolis before 480 BC

I don't think that anyone is ignoring you, just perplexed by a lack of knowledge of this period. I mentioned this to one of my friends, she being a practising Greek archaeologist, though never working in Athens. The difficulty seems to be that the Periclean projects obliterated most of everything else on what is basically a big lump of blasted rock in the middle of Athens. There is no stratigraphically definable evidence, or very little.

However, there are some remains of the Mycenaean period Cyclopean walls, which means that there must have been some kind of palace complex such as found at Pylos and Mycenae. Major structures were also constructed in the sixth century, probably during the tyranny when the city really started to flourish economically. Some evidence of this building has been discovered but I'm not sure how much. The most considerable remains are of the unfinished temples and propylaea that the Persian destroyed, some of which are incorporated into the later edifices (so this is post 490, and pre-480 a short period). A lot of material was ritually buried by the Athenians and this has provided most of the evidence for the pre-Periclean period, but it is very fragmentary. I'll see if there is any more on the sixth century buildings.
