    Default "Offical Summer Trips Thread"

I know this may be a bit a early, but I remember an identical thread last year. So where will you be visiting this summer? I going to be on a cruise, in the Caribbean, in June, and will be traveling to Europe in July.

Ottawa, to the National Air Museum. Again!

We were in Ottawa last year for a few days and on the way home we stopped at the museum. We got there at 4:45 Sunday afternoon and the place closed at 5:00. At least they let us in for free.

This time I want a good solid two hours at least. One hour and forty-five minutes of which will be spent pleading with the security guards to let me sit in the Lancaster.

"Pretty please, with sugar on it?"

    "Mmmmmmmmm... no."

Will be taking a cruise too, also in the Caribbean - only not in July, but in august.

Other than that I'm going to enjoy the summer and watch the world cup matches in the local pub with friends hopefully.

Holland, late July through mid August. Rock Island and Washington Island mid August 'til the end of August. Probably, Bar Harbor/Acadia and Boston sometime before.

My European friends here will organize a donation box so that I'll be watching World Cup matches in Germany especially of Netherland's.

World Cup? Is that like the Stanley Cup, but includes other countries in the world?

I am going to the UK to train from July to September, but I'm sure I will have time to travel when I'm there. I am going to Edinburgh as soon as I arrive, but after that, I don't know.

World cup is a once every 4 years major football tournament that countries all over the world play to qualify for. This year it's at Germany.

I'm (hopefully) just going to stay at home. At a boarding school, so I'm not home very often.

I'll be going back to the college 5/7 days a week to make some money!

Hopefully this time I'll have a couple of friends working there as well so we can screw around when we have nothing else to do.

Going backpacking/camping in Norway (Finnmarken), maybe Kiruna/Kepnekaise in Sweden. We will be in the wild for a good month, late july to mid august.

Doc: where in norway are you going? are you going to camp in a tent in the wild or do you take the more luxurious approach?

    Around

Bergen, Oslo, Myrdal, Lillehammer, 2 day hike in Hardangervidda. gletsjer (sp?) walking on the Nigardsbreen, climbing the Galdhopiggen, 2 day hike in Jotunheimen and hiking in Rondane. Mostly sleeping in tents, travelling by minibus and lots of hiking !

I really need to get in shape though, belgium is way too flat to get decent walking practice...

Dread Jotunheimen and Hardangervidda, they are pretty but it is really tough terrain.

Btw, in Bergen I can recommend you to take the trip by boat in Sognefjorden (beautiful scenery) and then take Flomsbanen back (an old train track).

Every day (except weekends) from July until early August I shall go trek to Invergowrie, and the Scottish Crop Research Institute, to find out how healthy strawberries are.

The second full week of August I shall go to Wales, to work on the Ffestiniog Railway for my Duke of Edinburgh Residential section...

If everything goes as planned, I'll be spending a while in Florida (Satelite Beach) and a while in Austin Texas (job with uncle). Maybe I'll hitch over somewhere else too. Germany...I'll visit there...
