stupid avatar question

Been noticing a new avatar gallery around here. The so called URL Avatars patron gallerly.

I've seen one I really like. But whatever I try to do, I don't seem to get it working completely. That is it does not show up as my forum avatar, but it does show up in my profile. How can I get it showing up as my forum avatar? Cos I am quite tired of the bland (female) ones that are available.

Go to your User CP. Select "Edit Options". From there scroll down to "Thread Display options". In the first set of checkboxes you see, uncheck "show avatars" and then scroll down and check the Url Avatars box.

glad you like the avatars.
Go to user control panel, edit options and
uncheck "Show Avatars"
and check "Check this box to display url avatars."

I do hope it is viewable to not just me though.

As there is little point in an avatar none or only a few can see. ;)

I can see your newly chosen avatar.
Anyone with URL avatars on, and regular avatars off can see it.

The bolded part in not necessary, I haven't turned that off, but I can still see R'as al Ghul's custom avatar as well as his .org avatar.

Though I would advise you to turn it off, since you'd otherwise see one very low resolution pic. of your own avatar in the place where otherwise a custom avatar would have been located.

I have turned 'show avatars' off, and have enabled 'Url avatars'. I can now see everyone's Url avatars (well those who have got them) but I can still see a large .org gallery avatar (very low resolution) for the members I only assume havn't chosen an url avatar. Is there a way to disable showing these?
