Default Game Crashing after Taking cities

    Faction: Aedui
    Year: 255 b.c
    Difficulty: H/H

    Description:
1st try: I marched onto the citi of Arimnum, Italy. I besieged it, broke to walls beat the small garrison. After the Victory, and once the game finished loading the game crashes to my desktop.
2nd try: (same Aedui army) This time Roman reinforcedmnets attacked me, thus the garrison came out. I beat them both (gotta lov them trees ) and a fraction of the garrison remained. I then attacked the city, killed the garrison and the game crashes to my desktop after it is finished loading. (MAD AS HELL)
3rd try: I attack the settlement when the reinforcemtns are close. In the battle the reinforcemtns join the battle. Beat them both. And game crashes after loading.
4th try: I let the reinforcemtns attack me again. (as in the 2nd try) I beat them both and I make sure no soldier from the garrison army is left alive. After the battle the game loads back to them map and I JUST MOVE THE ARMY INTO THE CITY. no crashes (since no loading takes place when you move an army to an empty city).

    Repetition:
Same thing happeing with the city of ROME, but it didn't happen with Arretium, and Cansusium. (I can't recall how I took Segestia and Bononia, if the garrison came out or not). Rome still has Capua, Taras, Rhegion and Rome (under siege).

I hope this was useful guys. Keep up the good work

    OK lets see: I had 1 General (18 men), 2 Gaestae (56, 55), 4 Mala Gaeroas (59, 85, 43, 77), 2 Botroas (30, 68), 1Bataroas (43) , 1 Enoci Curoas (83), 2 Samnite Spearmen (77, 71), 1 Samnise Heavy Inf. (61), 3 Sotoroas (44, 31, 37), and 1 Sphenedonetai (greek slinger 46).
As for the romans, the Garrison was 1 General (53 men), and a Hestati (80).
I think this was the 1st try.

I do not recall, nor have saved the other tries so I cannot tell you how many troops and type of units the reinforcemtns had.

I do know that in the 4rth and final trail, 1General was left (60 men) on the Garrison.

My first post in this thread, but I am experiencing (what I believe to be) the same problems. So here goes my info.

    Faction: Carthage
    Year: 255/3 b.c
    Difficulty: H/H

Rome has two provinces left - Arretium and Alalia. Alalia is garrisoned by 1 unit and not the subject of this issue. Arretium is garrisoned with a substantial force (breakdown below). I have been sieging Arretium for several turns. Somehow the Epiorites have seem to come alive as Rome's best friend and are rampaging up the penniusula - I am sure that they are only expanding the only way for them to expand but it sure as hell looks like they are trying to lift the seige at Arretium. Since I can't fight off two (more or less) full strength armies - one roman, one epirorite. I went ahead with the assault.

First time. 255 BC. Tremendous battle. I bring 1700 troops, he has 900.
(triarii to the left of me, triarii to the right of me) He kills around 1000 of my men. I kill 750+. As it gives me my 3 options to deal with the city, I push exterminate and it freezes. No CTD. Just a freeze.

Second time 253 BC. I bring less troops but higher qaulity. Tough battle. The triarii fight to the last man - how does one man hold up three units?? But I conquer. As it gives me my 3 options to deal with the city, I push exterminate and it freezes. No CTD. Just a freeze. Same thing. This is when I recall Neospartan's problems.

Seems to be the same cities.

If you need the troop breakdowns, I have those games saved. I will get them for you.

I will try again (damn romans never seem to die off!!) - I shall wait for them to sally forth this time and see if it freezes this time.

I was wrong in one part of my previous post. The first assault was in the winter of 254 BC. Here is the troop breakdown

    Carthage
    1 - General (35)
    1 - General (32)
    2 - Akontistai (120 each)
    5 - Libyan Spearmen (101 each)
    3 - poeni Citizen Milita (80 each)
    The "Mercs" (this IS Carthage!)
    1 - Samnite Hvy Infantry (80)
    3 - Samnite Spearmen (2 @ 80, 1 @ 46)
    4 - Enoci Curoas (101 each)

    The Dreaded Romans
    1 - General (55)
    5 - Triarii (68 each)
    4 - Hastati (66 each)
    2 - Principes (67 each)
    2 - Equities (1 at 42, 1 at 24)

Settlement can hold for 5 turns

Battle ended around the town square. There was a smattering of roman units left. When the option to end battle or continue battle came up, I chose end battle. ( I was tired - ever beat up 5 units of triarii ?!?) Chose the "exterminate" option and it froze as soon as I clicked it.

Since It crashed, I waited and tried the assault again in Summer of 253BC. Here is the breakdown for the (replay) assault...

    Carthage
    Carthage
    1 - General (35)
    1 - General (32)
    2 - Akontistai (120 each)
    5 - Libyan Spearmen (101 each)
    3 - poeni Citizen Milita (80 each)
    The "Mercs"
    2 - Samnite Hvy Infantry (80)
    4 - Samnite Spearmen (2 @ 80, 1 @ 46)
    2 - Enoci Curoas (101 each)

The only difference is in the "Merc" section.

    Roman troops
    The Dreaded Romans
    1 - General (55)
    5 - Triarii (53 each)
    4 - Hastati (51 each)
    2 - Principes (52 each)
    2 - Equities (1 at 33, 1 at 22)

Settlement can hold for another 3 turns.

This battle was not so tooth and nail. It still ended in the town square with no roman troops left alive. I chose the end battle. Then when given my three options, I chose exterminate and it freezes (again) when I click on that.

    I will try again.

Any directions I should be going or more details u need?

Reporting three more attempts with similar results.

End my turn, thus the Romans sally forth (or lose the town to the seige) Destroyed the troops to the last man. Took the town. Chose "Exterminate"
    and game froze. Same spot.

    Re-started to same place.
Instead of fighting the battle, I auto-calc'd. Good result. Chose "exterminate" and game froze. Same spot.

Re-started (again) to same spot. Again auto-calc. Not as good results, but a win. Chose "enslave" and game froze. same spot.

Can only fathom that the bug has something to do with the town falling. So I will break the seige and start seiging again.

    Open to suggestions...

    thanks all
