Don't remember my best mile but my best two mile for the APFT was 13:30. Not bad for a half a pack a day.

You run 6 miles in 27 minutes? Somehow I doubt that. That is average mile time of 4:30 a mile.Originally Posted by SwordsMaster

3 miles up, 3 miles down. My measuring device was a car though. I.e. I've driven the distance to make sure its 6 miles. I don't know, maybe on foot I cut corners or something, but that is the time. Add half a mile another 5 minutes if you want. Or maybe I'm just very fit.Originally Posted by Ice

I don't have the frame to be a speed runner (averaging around 6 min. per mile) but my endurance 5 mi. is around 27 minutes.
I can't say I've ever run faster than 7:05 for a mile. My 2 mile run is usually in the mid to high 1400s. Never been a fast runner though. I can run for fairly long distances and I can march all bloody day though with a pack and full kit.
How long have you guys been training at running? I'd like to improve my times to at least the mid six minutes. Any good techniques besides just running and pushing yourself harder each time?

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.
I'm no sprinter; my mile time is probably around six minutes. It's been so long since I've run just one mile.![]()
