Not really. Back in the day when I tried to join the army and trained really hard, the time I was aiming at for 1 km was 3:30. My pb was 3:10. Another minute and a half for the extra 5-600 m seems reasonable enough... The olympics run the km in under 2:30 so I'm still a whole 40 secs off... And I'm doing my absolute best here....

Yeah.... Tried to join the officer academy. Passed the physical tests, passed the language tests, and then got drunk before the maths exam and failed....

I once forgot i had to pick up my brother from school, ran the mile from our house to his school in about 10 minutes, while carrying a heavy backpack.

I was a skinny little kid with strong legs and 0% body fat. Although I was not on a track team, I could naturally run pretty well, since I wasn't carrying any weight. Every time I got a haircut, my weight went down 10%.

Anyway, my best time for the mile (1.6km) was around 5:30.

I did it! Holy crap! I just got home from the Sectional Track meet with a time of 4:39.4. I not only beat my previous best by ten seconds, but I also now hold the sophomore mile record at my high school! My new goal is to make state by senior year. State qualifying time for the mile in Illinois is 4:25.

Thanks. Now that Track is over, it's time to give my legs a break and become a couch potato before summer running begins!
