    Default Far Cry

Well, yeah. Got the game last weekend, but just got a chance to play a few hours yesterday. Great game, although the lack of a quick-save feature makes it unnecesarily repetitive when you can't spot your enemy and get killed once and again 10 feet from the next checkpoint. Another issue I have with this game is the absolute crap driving camera. I can understand that it needs to be controlled by the mouse if you are planning to shoot at stuff. But if you don't it should stay focused on the vehicle, and not on the trees on the roadside .

Anyway, I'm now finishing up the Carrier mission, and I love the physics engine, lights, AI and great texture quality. I.e, everything except the 2 things I've mentioned.

Anyway, seeing as the game isn't very recent, I'm guessing there are people here who have played it before. Any tips, etc..

Tips? Have fun, explore, take your time.

There is one spot where you can take a hang glider and fly to the next island, or you can steal a boat, or you can swim, or a combination of all three. Great stuff. No other FPS like it.

For all the hype around HL2 & Doom3, Farcry came out 6months before, did nearly everything as well as or nearly so & did about 3 times as much that the other 2 came nowhere near meeting.
Greatest FPS ever in my opinion.

Not sure what you mean about the driving camera, just use the mouse to turn the view point where you want it to look.

I loved it... at first. Most of the first levels have this great free-roaming feel to them, with some great AI keeping things just at the right level of challenge. And it looks gorgeous. But then those mutants turn up, and it all becomes rather repetitive. I gave up somewhere halfway through, it just wasn't much fun anymore.

But the first parts of the game are pure class.

Best singleplayer FPS ever. As for tips, just do what Beirut said, take your time, explore (there's no set route of completing missions as long as you complete the set goals). Other than that enjoy!

...and once you've finished with the singleplayer go onto multiplayer as that's excellent aswell.

It was quite good game. I must admit I was kind of dissapointed by the hype of "freedom" in game. Enviorment really wasnt that free hype promised.

Good game tho, must try out for FPS likers.
