Amazing photo's from the ghosttowns surrounding chernobyl. Dunno about you but it makes me feel extremily weird.

creepy, a motropolis is meant to be filled with people, like a forest full of birds, how you described it is best the silence screams, the nonexistent echo of a thousand vioces though the necropolis of chernobyl.

Starvation maybe?
Sad as it is, that would be perfect for a paintball war. I mean seriously. 40 guys on each team. Capture the flag. Holy crap...
My favorite,
Really grabs you at the throat. A true necropolis.
Hmm, well, a few empty buildings on photos don´t really touch me.
They may if I were personally there, but on some photos, well, this are just....buildings...![]()

It aren't just buildings, it is a place where people used to live. You see schools, hospitals, playgrounds, appartments, all fully furnished. Life just stopped there and time stands still but you can still see a hint of what it once was. I am completily fascinated by these pictures, it is just so surrealistic, you try to imagine it in it's glory days, I can almost smell it.Originally Posted by Husar

Where as P'yong'yang has a population of 2,767,900 in the city, with 3,222,000 million in the metro area. So you have 2.7 million people in a city built for 9 million. You can see why it looke empty.Originally Posted by yesdachi

Hmmm, maybe if everyone from Chernobyl plays STALKER they won't get homesick and will stop living in the dead zone.
It's worth a shot right?

Cities are supposed to have people in them. They don't even need to be actually deserted or lifeless - just seem like it, like a downtown business district late at night (I've a lasting impression of Hamburg like that) - to come off as vaguely disquieting. With Chernobyl there's the added spook factor of knowing why everyone left in a hurry...
Although personally I've seen quite enough Chernobyl photos to have become rather inured. I'd imagine that to be pretty common around my neck of woods.

I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."
