Why cant my cheats work?

I have tons of fun playing without cheats, but sometimes i would like to lay back and just dominate Japan. What do i have to press to be able to cheat and when do i enter them?

I have trouble with them as well. You're supposed to be on the stategy map and type
.muchkoku but it doesn't seem to work for me.

.matteosartori.

don't forget the period after the word also
