Well my memories are somewhat fuzzy, but I seem to recall that training Templars first requires some of the higher-level structures--structures you don't have right away when you start the game. (I want to say Templars need a Master Horsebreeder and Baronial Estate, but don't quote me on that.) One thing to keep in mind is that the 1-2 units of Templars you get in beginning are somewhat comparable to Royal Knights in unmodded MTW/VI--in the sense that you can't necessarily *train* those types of units right away, even though you start out with them. Is that what you were asking?

I'm livin' on 1 hour of sleep...I was up all night playing as the Swiss...And you know how THAT can be.
Actually, I haven't yet had the pleasure of trying them out. By most accounts, however, they're bloody hard to win with, if only becuase it's difficult to successfully expand. I wish you luck!
