Thread: new to forum, not to M:TW

Default new to forum, not to M:TW

    Howdy,
I've fairly experienced with M:TW, but have only recently started playing Rome:Total War. Most of my experience has been with Catholic factions, but also have spent a fair amount of time as the Byzantines and Turks. I must say there are many fascinating threads i'm going to be jumping in on. Look forward to hearing the various points of view.

So which do you like better? I still prefer MTW. Seems the battle system is better and last longer. I hope that CA does MTW 2 right and brings back the thrill of the battle and doesn't give us another eye-candy crap game that RTW was/is. What's your opinion?

Thank you all for the warm welcome, in addition to MTW and Rome, i've also played my share of Shogun. For now i would say MTW is my favorite, but as i get more used to Rome that might change. Dave, what is it about the battle scenes in MTW that find so superior to R:TW? i know the reinforcement coordination in MTW is easier, just plop them in the province and your set.

    Welcome milhistbuff1

I think the general conscensus is that MTW, though graphically inferior, was better for MP and the battles lasted longer, and involved more 'strategy'. The effects of morale, fatigue, weather etc were also more pronounced and relevant in MTW. RTW battles are sort of, click click, cavalry charge, click all over. Whoever rushes first using an enveloping tactic usually wins.
