I think the fact that you're recruiting Iphicrathian hoplites from Syracuse might be a bug in the recruitment system. Are Romans supposed to be able to recruit them, at all?

According to their recruitment guide, the Romani can recruit Iphrikates Hoplites in Syracuse but no where else. The guide is a few months old though so I don't know what it is now.

With the current problems with the MIC building (basically, there are CTD's whenever you have a certain number of building requirements for units), there may be really big unit recruitment changes. I don't think we can handle any more recruitment fixes till something has been resolved with the retarded problems that 1.5 threw at us.

I never understood why you can recruit Iphikratous Hoplitai in Syrakousai but not in Greece itself...

There are lots of problems still with recruitment. If you get some time why not try to help fix it.

I'd love to.. if I knew how.

I think it's because the Greeks on Greece recruit the Iphikratous Hoplites from their MIC, so no need to have them as natives as well, otherwise nobody would build the top tier government. Or of course, it's just a problem which needs fixing.

    What are the exact problems?

Perhaps it could be helping to have a thread where the team posts the latest "as is" version of the mod files so that anyone willing to help could have a try at it and eventually could post pieces of solution in another post where the team could pick the good ideas....

(I mean, I had a look at v0.74's EDB and EDU.... but who knows how different these files could be in your present internal version? Making sources available for cooperative work was the key to many success in the free-software world...)

Making not very playable internal builds public would destroy the suprise factor of new factions/units/features that should increase the EB experience.

In R:TW 1.5 building requirements for unit recruitment cause massive problems.

Normally such problems aren't EB specific and are discussed publically in the R:TW modding subforums here at the org.

This specific problem was discussed, and is described in The Complete EDB Guide - discussion thread, post 90 ff.:
