Default anyone up for some Dawn of War MP?

    Ok, so its like this:

I have a few weeks before I have to be back to school. On my days off, I play with RL friends between the hours of 6pm-midnight CST and sometimes early sundays. no, I dont play that whole time, thats just the general time me or the pals get on.

A couple of my friends who play are good/decent, and a couple are older guys who aren't too computer saavy and do the same damn thing every game, but they are fun nonetheless. We usually aren't all on at the same time, but every now and then we'll muster some 3v3s where I actualy know everyone.

when they arent around I just play automatch games against random people or try to join big games. We arent ladder climbers, we dont care about records, we just want some action.

Popular games ATM (you will need the map packs!)

-A lot of people adding "take and hold" and "control area" to the win conditions in addition to annihilate because it makes everyone get out and fight instead of camping and going straight for tanks. It's also kind of exciting to take a critical location from an enemy 5 seconds before you lose (take and hold is 2/3s of critical locations must be in winners position for 5 mins//control area is same thing but with strategic points)

-Assasinate: not as common, but fun, and really interesting with the addition of the Imp guard Command Squad as a boss unit. Basically, in ass. you start out with your commander unit for free, and must keep it alive. If it dies you are out. This makes for units being hid in buildings and transports and as long as its the only win condition (never use asasinate with other win conditions) you can lose your entire base but still be in the game.

-Resource sharing: has its perks, for sure, as long as everyone pitches in but its easy to get into a comfort zone and not realize how much of your resources was coming from the ally who just got wiped of the map. It's good to plan in resource sharing games, qand maybe have a designated power guy, and a designated resouce guy etc. 4v4s and 3v3s are spiced up a bit when, for example, you use resource sharing and decide as a team that player three wont make any troops or take any points, and instead player three will upgrade his base as fast as posible and build power and get artillery. This actually works kinda good vs people, not just AI, because they dont know who the chump with no troops is unless they are scouting well

-quick-Start: some people do it , some dont, u get 10k each resource. Makes for good fights early and lots of lag, insures you dont get rushed by the kid with autism who has the early base build order memorized for every race and timed out perfectly. the problem with quick start is that people forget to take points and build power, and run out of money, kinda funny, i end up giving money to my allies in every Qs game I've played so far.

-No insane matches with AI, and only harder setting after I whine and moan. I prefer hard setting, hell, even in standard 4v4s can get tough if you play quick-start. In case you didn't know, AI settings (in addition to afecting aggressiveness) raise the health of units and buildings. Standard=75% of normal, Hard=100, HArder=125 and Insane=150. call me a wuss, but I just dont like the odds of insane, its not fun, and its impossible unless you use really silly tactics. I repeat, its just not fun losing fights you should win because all the AI units get the equivalent of 1 free unit for every 2 they make. when you consider that the AI has imediate responses to other players and coordinates with other AI players, playing insane is downright impossible. Try flanking an AI group with jump troops -- the second you land AI teams with telepport or airdrop land right next to you, no thought or reasoning required. Playing 3 OrC AI wil frequently result in 3 orc bosses teleporting to the same base at the same time. With tactics like that, hard setting is perfectly adequate. Especially if your playing with my friends hehe

Ok, sorry for long post. If you want to play post here, we can try to set up some game nights or something if anyone with DOW:winter Assault is interested.

edit: btw, the server is hosted by gamespy, and the chat interface and friend interface sucks, and the maturity level of the people in the online lobby is that of a bunch of 8 year olds, so just ignore them.

edit 2: i dont think you can add friends unless they are actually online, but my handle is Colon_Burns. You satchels need to play
