    Default Best game ending

Well, having never played any of the hitman games, i wasn't sure what i was getting. But, something in the pc gamer review compelled me to pre-order. Anyways, 3 days of continuous play later, i can safely say it is absolutely ruddy brilliant. Minor niggles aside (no-one cares that a six foot bald man walks into the same toilet cubicle they're in...) , i recommend this to all, it actually tore me away from EB for 3 whole days.

But, i digress, what i'm trying to say is, has anyone got to the end, to the requiem mission? BEST ENDING EVER IN A GAME EVER. ever:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
i actually sat through the entire credits watching 47 die, until i pressed the W key. Whats this?. Man rising from dead to bump of his own funeral party? What could top that?!?!?

I say hitman blood money, but what do y'all reckon is the best game ending ever?

Very much enjoying blood money at the moment, so the ending is great as well huh

Best ending is probably from Thief-the Dark Project, very atmospheric, perfect ending of a perfect game. And of course every Metal Gear Solid game, I love how these mad konami designers completily overdo it every time, so ham-fisted you could almost call it vulgar, thank god they don't take themselve too seriously. Great stuff.

Age of Wonders, the original one ... the ending wasn't much in itself, but I personally found it quite brilliant.

Baldur's Gate series, when you play the whole thing just for that end, to be or not to be ...

Vampire: Redemption and Bloodlines ... both had very good endings.

An honorable mention of Fallout 1 and 2, although more information on the hero would have been welcome, rather than just on the various places you've been to.

Those old games that simply said game over after you beat the game. Really makes you feel like you've accomplished something.

Seriously: I don't have a favourite, VTM: Bloodlines' was pretty good I suppose, but I never truly have felt satisfied by a game ending.

I think for me it was Gothic 2, the ending losened the stress and tension created before and I had to laugh a lot. Besides, it makes me want Gothic 3.

I'll be buying Blood Money when my exams are over.

Some of the best endings are Mafia, Outcast, Max Payne 2, Knights of the Old Republic and Eternal Darkness. All felt like a real closure, and were satisfying endings.

    But the best finale has to be Prince of Persia: Sands of Time;
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The point where Farah abandons you came as a shock, as was the loss of any weapon. But then you suddenly get a killer blade, followed by some of the best and most impressive platforming of the series trying to catch up with Farah. Then, she plummets to her death, in one of the saddest moments I can think of in a game. Although the endboss is a bit disappointing the final cutscene, where Farah doesn't remember the Prince at all, is perfect.

Absolutely an ending worthy of a good movie.

I'm a sucker for sad endings, and I wish more games would have one.

Just you wait... Also, @ Fragony, how did you bump off the blokes on the paddle steamer (assuming youve got there)? I couldn't find any ways to exploit the enviroment, and thats what i find so appealing about the game; making the hits seem like accidents. Runing at them with a Desert Eagle was kind of dissatisfying.

VTM: Bloodlines' was pretty good I suppose
Gotta disagree there, i thought the ending was, although humorous, kinda unsatisfying. Just who was the taxi driver? was he cain? Why did that jack (is that what he was called) guy have the mummy? Whatever happened to nines rodriguez (i was expecting a triumphant return with a werewolf's head)?

    Mafia
Had forgotten about that one, definitely agree though. Classy ending to a classy game, and really tied in with the whole vendetta/don't betray family thing. The sawn-off as the weapon was a real nice touch.

Ah, Final Fantasy VII, best ending ever. Sephiroth just dead, then there is the battle to stop the Meteor from hitting, first Holy works, but fails, than Aeris and Her Lifestream comes and pushes the thing away. Ah, spectacular.
Then Red XIII comes after the credits with his children, and we see Midgar ruined and covered in grass, providing the opening to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the movie-sequel to the game...

Sounds like you should play the game again. Depending on who you helped you unlock different dialogue options in the cab sequence; you can side with LaCroix, the Camarilla, the Kuei-Jin, the Anarchs, or go it alone. Me, I sided with the Anarchs at the end, and met up with Nines (with werewolf's head!). It's a strong ending, I loved the twist at the end.

Kuei-Jin ending's cool too, though something of a surprise.

DEAR LORD. I may just go into games development. Or i am possibly clairvoyant. I think i will prob reinstall it, as i only played siding with LaCroix, and was a bit miffed when i got blown up. Have they got a patch that makes the game significantly less buggy?

Ah, the LaCroix ending is pretty unstatisfying, the Camarilla ending isn't exactly great either, I haven't seen the Kuei Jin ending, the Anarch ending was pretty much the best there was (although very similar to the LaCroix ending). There's also an ending where you betray LaCroix and open the coffin yourself iirc.

Only one official patch came out, but there's some fan made ones. Haven't tried them though.

Seems that you didn't listen to the minor hints told throughout the game about how to choose.
Try a malk in any case, they're hillarious. Not the first time through char though, as thier funnier if you know what you're talking about

Oh, for Jack and the cabby. Jack is Jack and a real mummy is always useful when playing jihad. The cabby is "a old and powerful vampire that you're supposed to wonder if he's Cain" (basically told in a interview I saw a while ago). Lore-wise Cain would really not bother with the events in the game though.

As for the ending my theory is the following:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
You're used as a pawn to complete thier plan to eliminate the Prince, the Kuel-Jin and probably to flush the Sabbat in the open enough to take them out. All to advance the positions of the Anarchs (and probably unknown to the Anarchs).

Beckett warns you because he gains knowledge about the plan, but as telling you about it is politics, he doesn't say it, only hints about how to survive.

The only thing I haven't fitted into my theory is the e-mails. Feels like the caddy sends them, but putting you in the basket from the begining feels a bit to in-flexible. I mean, you must survive for quite a while before you get really useful
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Yeah lol... but usually when someone says DON'T OPEN IT!!! repeatedly, then usually something cool will happen...reverse psycology ye know...

I guess i was just a little dissapointed, but otherwise tis a brill game.

The ending though, is whats important in this thread, and next to Hitman's finale, it pales in comparison (see what i did there : "pales", and vampires are pale, gettit?)

Hated the Max Payne 2 ending. Actually, I really hated everything about that one. The origional, though, was probably the best FPS ever; it certainly had the best storyline by far. So many intricacies, a powerful subplot about Ragnarok, plus a beautiful, Film-Noir-meets-Gothic style that is still a joy to experience. The ending was my favorite of all time, as well; absolutely cinematic, like the game itself.

Then Rockstar comes along and completely ruins it. The second had an atrocious plot, completely devoid of the beauty of the first; the style was a sick parody of the first; and none of the characters turned out right.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
(Woden is evil, damnit, not Vladimir- and Mona should have been evil too! Having Vlad changed like that was sick and wrong and vile! He had absolutely none of those elements in the first game; he was old-school gangster down to the core, a man you could trust- and now you're supposed to trust WODEN?! THAT EVIL POWER-PLAYER?! **** ROCKSTAR!)
The gameplay was marginally better, admittedly, but it also felt stale and much less origional (oooooh, goody- more bullettime... whoop de [doo].) And I can't even remember the ending; frankly, I really can't remember much of what led up to the ending, because the plot had lost all interest for me so long ago.

Kinda like a real movie sequel.

I loved Max Payne 2. I think the whole point of the game was "you can't trust anyone". I think it reflected very well the whole struggle for power.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Besides, you are not asked to trust Woden, its just that Mona happens to be working for him, same as in the first game. It is her that leads you throughout most of this game. Vlad used you in the first game (to get his ship back) so why wouldn't he use you in this one on a greater scale? Besides, it was you killing his g-f that really makes him go after you.

    Editing quite to match. Froggy.

Yes, I really liked Max Payne 2. Replayed it enough so I could get the happy ending. I haven't played the original. Is it worth getting? Sounds like it would be. I thought the ending in MP2 was good, at least not knowing MPs set-up. The betrayal - "dearest of all my friends" - was delicious.
