I think for me it was Gothic 2, the ending losened the stress and tension created before and I had to laugh a lot. Besides, it makes me want Gothic 3.

I'll be buying Blood Money when my exams are over.
Some of the best endings are Mafia, Outcast, Max Payne 2, Knights of the Old Republic and Eternal Darkness. All felt like a real closure, and were satisfying endings.
But the best finale has to be Prince of Persia: Sands of Time;

Absolutely an ending worthy of a good movie.
I'm a sucker for sad endings, and I wish more games would have one.

Just you wait... Also, @ Fragony, how did you bump off the blokes on the paddle steamer (assuming youve got there)? I couldn't find any ways to exploit the enviroment, and thats what i find so appealing about the game; making the hits seem like accidents. Runing at them with a Desert Eagle was kind of dissatisfying.ery much enjoying blood money at the moment, so the ending is great as well huh
Gotta disagree there, i thought the ending was, although humorous, kinda unsatisfying. Just who was the taxi driver? was he cain? Why did that jack (is that what he was called) guy have the mummy? Whatever happened to nines rodriguez (i was expecting a triumphant return with a werewolf's head)?VTM: Bloodlines' was pretty good I suppose
Had forgotten about that one, definitely agree though. Classy ending to a classy game, and really tied in with the whole vendetta/don't betray family thing. The sawn-off as the weapon was a real nice touch.MafiaPlay mafia, i had a tear in my eye.I'm a sucker for sad endings, and I wish more games would have one.

I like games where you decide the ending.

Ah, Final Fantasy VII, best ending ever. Sephiroth just dead, then there is the battle to stop the Meteor from hitting, first Holy works, but fails, than Aeris and Her Lifestream comes and pushes the thing away. Ah, spectacular.
Then Red XIII comes after the credits with his children, and we see Midgar ruined and covered in grass, providing the opening to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the movie-sequel to the game...

Couldnt agree more, i poured so much time and energy into that game, it was truly a fitting ending to a fantastic game.Originally Posted by Duke Malcolm

Sounds like you should play the game again. Depending on who you helped you unlock different dialogue options in the cab sequence; you can side with LaCroix, the Camarilla, the Kuei-Jin, the Anarchs, or go it alone. Me, I sided with the Anarchs at the end, and met up with Nines (with werewolf's head!). It's a strong ending, I loved the twist at the end.Originally Posted by Masy
Kuei-Jin ending's cool too, though something of a surprise.

Hated the Max Payne 2 ending. Actually, I really hated everything about that one. The origional, though, was probably the best FPS ever; it certainly had the best storyline by far. So many intricacies, a powerful subplot about Ragnarok, plus a beautiful, Film-Noir-meets-Gothic style that is still a joy to experience. The ending was my favorite of all time, as well; absolutely cinematic, like the game itself.Originally Posted by Geoffrey S
Then Rockstar comes along and completely ruins it. The second had an atrocious plot, completely devoid of the beauty of the first; the style was a sick parody of the first; and none of the characters turned out right. The gameplay was marginally better, admittedly, but it also felt stale and much less origional (oooooh, goody- more bullettime... whoop de [doo].) And I can't even remember the ending; frankly, I really can't remember much of what led up to the ending, because the plot had lost all interest for me so long ago.Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

EDIT: Language. Froggy.

Yes, I really liked Max Payne 2. Replayed it enough so I could get the happy ending. I haven't played the original. Is it worth getting? Sounds like it would be. I thought the ending in MP2 was good, at least not knowing MPs set-up. The betrayal - "dearest of all my friends" - was delicious.

No reason not to play it if you liked the second. Personally I liked the first a whole lot more(could be the wow factor because it was so fresh and the second is basicly more of the same), it doesn't take itselve so seriously and the shooting looks better imvho.Originally Posted by econ21
