Mine is from an excellent kid's cartoon - Histeria, which made fun of history while teaching it (albeit in a cursory manner). It had a skit about Alexander the Great and his father. Alexander would keep on doing impressive things that his father would dismiss as "pretty good."
Alexander (while surfing on a chariot pulled by lions): Hey dad! Check this out!
Dad: Pretty good, son. Not great; but pretty good.
I found it funny, and I'm certainly not great...

My favorite unit in MTW were billmen and they recieve a valour bonus if their produced in Mercia, thus mercian billman seemed appropriate.
You know another year has passed when the "How Did You Choose your Name?" thread pops up. It's an old favorite.
When there was only Shogun: TW, many of us chose Japanese nicknames. Mine means "the wind caused by a sword swing". I found it as the name of a WWII Japanese destroyer.
In other instances, I use Bachikaze, which would mean "the wind caused by swinging a drumstick" (not a chicken leg).
Screw luxury; resist convenience.
