Ok we are looking in to this. My understanding is there may well be a patch for this issue. But that is not confirmed and I can't confirm it for at least a week or so. However there is no need for a petition, in fact you should all be aware of our opinion on these by now. Online petitions have to be disregarded as a measure of opinion as they are completely open to abuse there is no email authentication so any one make multiple signatures. So for example some one could start a petition saying that we should completely scrap the strategy map form our games. Then set up a PC to auto generate signatures and a few days later you a have petition with 1000's of signatures.
So I will let you know within two weeks what's happening with this, if you don't here back from be please get one of the admins to PM me. I am really busy at the moment so some things do slip from time to time.
I hope that helps guys?

So finally you're hinting that there may be a patch? When this issue was raised over at the offical forums, the topics related to it were quickly closed and members informed that the VI 2.01 patch would suffice. It is good that this is being finally looked inot though.Originally Posted by The Shogun
I disagree, this is a call for a show of support from the existing userbase of this forum. To suggest that those members involved are simply the same person using multiple accounts is ludicrous. The administration could have verified the originating IP addresses if necessary, so this is easily proven. Most of those signing are long standing members, not those that have just registered with the sole purpose of signing this petition. Email authentrication is in place in this software (Vbulletin). The same email address cannot be used to register multiple accounts.Originally Posted by The Shogun
Not on this messageboard. What you're trying to describe is some kind of a robotic registration hack. AS I've said, the members that have posted are long term members not generated bots, all posting from the same IP address.Originally Posted by The Shogun
Well, let's hope that this issue is now addressed and that a patch is created. Despite the seemingly harsh manner of this post, I sincerely appreciate your coming here to make this statment.Originally Posted by The Shogun

It does. Thanks for the response, Shogun.Originally Posted by The Shogun

A warning message posted on the forums about MTW Gold is the most effective thing to do. As you can see, petitions will be ignored. It's interesting that CA is responding to this because officially they claim product support isn't their responsibility.
_________Designed to match Original STW gameplay.
Beta 8 + Beta 8.1 patch + New Maps + Sound add-on + Castles 2
Till then it might be useful to make a list of countries where improver Gold versions are distributed.
In the Netherlands you get the proper, patched version.
Thanks Shogun. We appreciate the response!

Added to that, quite a large majority of the signers of this petition at this board have been well known and respected members of the community for a long time. They should never be suspected of identity abuse.
I kindly and most respectfully protest such implications as a devoted ORGAH.

To any subsequent posters taking offense: I'm sure Shogun was not saying we are Script bots. I think he's just saying there's no need for a separate on-line petition. My reading of his post is that he's not regarding this thread as a petition (even though we've labelled it as such).
CA posts on the Org have become so rare they tend to attract over-excited responses. There's a risk that this becomes a vicious circle. If trying to communicate and be helpful leads people to over-analyse and over-react to your posts, you can understand why people are reluctant to post.

Nevertheless, I agree wholeheartedly with Papewaio and Mouza.Originally Posted by econ21

Communication in online forums is always difficult. Either you want contact and discussion with your fan base, or you don't.
Whining and complaining from either side isn't helping anyone.

It's not an all or nothing thing. CA staff have limited time at work and like all of us, limited patience. If posting to fans produces positive responses, they will do it. If trying to be communicative and helpful leads them to be accused of whining and complaining, I can understand them staying away.Originally Posted by R'as al Ghul

I was generally commenting on the atmosphere in the forums, lately (since R:TW). I didn't accuse anyone specific, although patrons are more guilty of it. Of course I understand that posting at .org isn't their main occupation but I always thought of it as an important tool for them.Originally Posted by econ21
And only then, it seems. Since they are being criticized they're making themselves rather rare. Of course, this is my personal observation and needn't be true.If posting to fans produces positive responses, they will do it.

Let's clear up a few things, so we can move on together.
1) Membership.
Being a Member here, whether Junior, Full, CA, or staff, means something special here; It means that your words get accorded respect, and are allowed the principle of charity (i.e. it's assumed that your intent is honorable). The_Shogun is a member here. He gets the same deal as the rest of us.
2) Staff:
Staff here are tasked to help Members. This thread & petition were started by staff in an attempt to help members solve a problem (50% of their game product being unusable). Kudo's to staff for using a petition, after exhausting the other, usual solutions - changing user settings, game settings, hardware configurations, etc. No other tech solution obtaining, staff resorted to the means at hand - the power of words, organized.
3) Petitions
It is well understood and remembered, the ugliness of some other past petition-drives in the totalwar community. Boycotts, won't-buys, and such like have tainted the reputation of petitions, and their ability to effect significant change. Nevertheless, after review, I certify that each signatory post in this thread was made by an individually-identifyable IP address. Such efforts should not be dismissed out-of-hand by developers and publishers due to past ugliness, because sometimes they are the only means seen as available by product-buyers to fix their problems.
All that siad... we asked for attention, attention is received and responded to. Solution is on the way, yes?
Thread re-opened.
